Characters Taking Meds In Movies?

Why is it every time a character has to take a pill or some sort of medication in a movie, that they always pop the top of the bottle off with their thumb, then tilt the bottle into their mouth to take a pill as if they were taking a swig from a beer can?

Who of us does this in real life??? :facepalm Do any of you?

I see this all the time in movies and TV shows-- so much that it's annoying. Has anybody else noticed this? What else drives you crazy?

Maybe that explains actors overdosing in real life, they forgot you can't actually down 20 pills at once.

Yeah, I've noticed that and it IS annoying. Even if they spill the pill/s out into their hand they slap/sling it into their mouth then take a gulp of water and slap/sling their head around like the esophagus and gravity can't handle things.........Maybe on stage such exaggerated movements would be necessary so the folks in the very back will for sure know what is going on, but c'mon--close up on a big screen in HD, just not necessary and very annoying.

Same thing if it's some kind of injection. A big deal is made of uncapping the needle, pulling the med into the syringe, tapping and squirting a little of the med out.....then the major close up of the needle about to pierce the skin :rolleyes

I just put it down to bad acting or overacting. I really don't want to see the closeup of the needle going in the skin as it gives me the creeps. If I took my meds they way they do I'd have choked on some of these things by now. I haven't seen a bottle that pops open with just your thumb since before the child safety lids got put on them.

I pop the tops with my thumb but then pour the pills in my hand and pop em. I've been known to knock them back without a beverage too so not that far fetched. Nobody has complained about me doing it before...

pills you guys got pills,and beer,yeah oh yeah beer,i hate the way nobody seems to finish a meal or a beer.
in real life i kinda gulp pills(if i ever take em)but i know what you mean about the thumbable lids.....kids all over the world come and get some pills from these easy open pill pots.maybe it's a plan to get kids addicted to pills for the alien takeover
