Cash Cab hits man in Vancouver

It would have been much worse if it had been during filming. I foresee Cash Cab either being taken off the air, or taking some serious revamping actions to curb this from happening again.

No way. One of my pals was a cameraman for COPS, and he was in two different cars that hit and killed two different folks while filming. It's sad and of course the tape never sees the light of day, but the show goes on.

My first thought was oh no, they hit someone while filming. It was the producer driving back after they had finished filming. I wonder how many cash cabs there are in the world?

It's why the production company and channel it's on has a butt load of insurance and good lawyers to offer the families cash to make it go away.

I think if Ben Bailey were driving during an episode and he hit someone and killed them, then the show might be canceled. But this? Nah.

From the sound of things, it seems like there's at least a few details missing. One of the tip-offs is that there weren't any charges filed and that there may have been other factors. I'm wondering if the guy may have stepped out in front of the cab or something.

Also, it's not a "Mock taxi". It's a certified taxicab like any other that just happens to host a gameshow inside. I don't know anything beyond that (and am not getting into the debate about the screening process), but I do know it's a registered taxi. No "mock" about it.

You sir are very much correct, it is a real, fully registered taxi.
This is one of my favorite shows so I've researched it quite a bit. I don't want to de-rail this thread (unless folks are really interested) but let's just say what we see on TV isn't exactly what heppens in person.

Funky, I agree on the not derailing the thread, but I'd like to know more. Maybe starting a Cash Cab thread in the Media forum?
