Carrie's mom and daughter have come out saying that they will look after Gary, which was, to me, a big weight off. I always worry when I hear about pets left behind when their humans pass away.
Do we know what she was doing in London, was she doing a convention or something right before she got on the plane?
I'm saddened to learn of her death. I thought I'd share two personal accounts of her.
Carrie Fisher helped me twice. The first time I met her was at the Calgary Comic & entertainment expo in 2013. I had just met another entertainer who was a complete jerk, and I was having a bad day at the con as a result. I was able to talk with her a bit when I received an autograph and mentioned that I had seen her one woman show and celebrity ghost story. She shared a bit more about how creepy the ghost story was. When I had a chance to take a photo with Carrie, she suggested we do a fake boob grab shot and said it would be funny. She held my hand just at the right spot and sold it with an expression of surprise. No hand ever touched said boob by the way. She was so kind, gracious with her time and so very funny. I remember thinking this lady is Hollywood royalty, yet she has been so kind to not only me but all the fans that came to see her. Meeting her really made the con for me and got me out of the bad day I was having.
The second time I met her was in Edmonton in 2016. My heart was heavy as my regular Con pal, my sister, was dying of cancer. I made the decision to go see Carrie in Edmonton by myself. She signed my “Star Wars Rocks” poster and said it was one of her favorites. In a moment of utter fan boy reaction, I said it was my favorite too and that I had met her before some years earlier in Calgary, and came back to see her again as she was so nice & kind. She raised her eyes from the poster and looked at me squarely in the eyes and said a simple “Thank you”. Though it may seem inconsequential to most, that simple thank you made the heaviness in my heart lighten for that moment.
Thanks for your kindness and laughter. R.I.P. Carrie Fisher

I went to sleep last night with Princess Leia's Theme on repeat. My playlist for today:
Also, she was supposed to be at Emerald City Comicon this year and a bunch of fans are requesting that rather than find a replacement for her that they set up her table and have it as a way to pay tribute to her. I, myself, am lending support to this notion with the additional step that they invite a good mental health organization to staff it to provide education and collect donations. Because she was such an advocate for mental health and so open about her own struggles, it seems like a proper tribute to me.
Oh, god.
Carrie's mom was rushed to the hospital after a possible stroke. :cry
