Carbon Fiber War Machine- 8.21- Completed

Re: Carbon Fiber War Machine- 85%- first vid up!

Looks great. Any way you could cover the multicolor leds on the bottom of the arm with a clear red plastic?

@ Grave- smuggle them in... profit.

@ Powerhouse- I painted the screws in. : / So that that would be a no.

i second that, also i'm considering doing the same thing for my suit, but since its a mark 4 with lots of compound curves i dont know whether or not the wrap will make bubbles, so my questions are does it bubble? and are you using vinyl or the pvc sheet stuff?

the emblems are badass XD

Re: Carbon Fiber War Machine- 7.26.12 update

Nice build! What scale did you use for the shoulder bells? Im using the foam files from stealth.

Some final pics and then answering some questions.

Sorry I dont have pictures that show the fitment better. This build was for a client who is much smaller then me. (5'7 180) as opposed to my 6'4" 220. I could not talk my gf into putting it on and she would have been too small.

I used the vinyl sheet and I don't think I will do it again. It was a pain in the @ss. I spent a lot of time working it to get it to look right. EVA and the sheetz are just not friends. the EVA is too giving and you really need a solid substrate for the wrap. I also tried a much of different glues and not of them really worked well either. I would of been better painting on the pattern.

... damn! seriously? i just finished my suit and was like a week away from buying meters of the vinyl stuff...thanks for the warning!

Edit just bought lots of the stuff and now i'm waiting for it to arrive to get coating :D gonna see if i can come up with a way to get it to stick without the priming steps :D

have you ever thought of using real carbon fiber? i love these iron man suits that everyone makes, but would be afraid of them being really brittle. seems like a final layer of carbon fiber would strengthen it quite well. and if you're handy enough to do this, working with carbon fiber would be a breeze, and really not too expensive.

great work. butt loads of good quality work there mate. plenty of inspiration on how to tackle my war machine suit :) am bookmarking this thread (y)
