Captain Fordo Helemt WIP - Clone Wars Micoseries

So yesterday I got my stunning Vader gear, and today another big brown box arrived with another helmet


This time, not a Vader package but a Clone Trooper one! More specifically a helmet that is a replica of the Phase 2 Helemt as worn by Fordo in the Original 2003 The Clone Wars Micro-series. Long story short I scored this bad boy from jimmiroquai on the CTD and I love it.


I'm very much looking forward to building this Helmet, even though I'm won't be building the full costume I wanted to start a WIP thread to get feedback for the helmet build and get it spot on. Since once Vader and Hux are done t'll be fair game so who knows

And for those who can't remember the exact helmet, just check out the GIF below for some Fordo Badass-ery. The original Clone Wars Microseries was my first ever introduction to the Clone War sand Clone Trooper, first seeing it when I discovered at the Local Blockbuster Video. Like I said this was my first time seeing Clones since I was only 7-8 years old and not really able to watch AOTC yet. But anyway, 7 year old me fell in love with the Clones, Fordo especially. So I couldn't resist picking this helmet up since it was the final 1 of 2 helmets that Jim was producing of it.


To put it in perspective the Phase 1 version of in this Animated style Micro Series Fordo has been approved (and maybe Phase 2...) but it's meant to have this stylised look. Also, I only just realised this but the realistic equivalent would be that of a Commander Neyo helmet

Thanks mate! Yeah who doesn't love Fordo! Don't get me wrong I love the newer series but the original will always have that part of my childhood And Fordo, I mean he was the badass Clone dual wielding blasters before any other!
Can't wait to do him up nice, And who knows one day I figure I'll have to get my hands on a Phase 1 Fordo dome as well

Update time! So today I was able to break out the dremel and sandpaper and remove the material in the visor area and the grill/teeth in the frown area. And of course I couldn't help throwing in a piece of temporary lens material I had laying around and chuck the bucket on for a couple photos

Also did a bunch of sanding on the rest of the helmet and I've got to say it's coming out really nice!

When in Rome, grab your DC-17! That's the saying right?

I also just remembered that a while back I created a CAD replica of Fordo's Phase 1 Pistols, although not used by the Phase 2 version I now have an excuse to 3D print them once I eventually get a 3D printer

First coat of prime now applied, next up more sanding and filling

Did a couple of coats of paint this afternoon, one primer coat and then one with gloss white just to help work out what needs more work

So glad that Jim took the time to sculpt this masterpiece since without him I wouldn't have this!

I've been working away at finishing off the bucket in my spare time with the usual sanding, filling, priming finally have began doing the proper painting, not just priming
First I sorted out that matte white coat:

Then with some masking and two coats of Matte Red paint later I now have my first bit of color on the bucket! And with minimal cleaning up needed. So overall I'm happy with how it come out so far

Hey, I know this thread is quite old and I'm not sure if your still working on this fordo helmet, but I'm a new member of the UK Garrison and I'm looking to create a Phase 2 Captain Fordo costume. I think your helmet is a perfect real life reconstruction of the animated helmet. Could I ask where you managed to get it from? I would love to get my hands on one myself so I can start working on making my costume. Thank you, may the force be with you!
