Captain America USO help

Hi all,

First post ever so bear with me I'm so sorry if this is posted in the wrong place and is filling up space, but I really want to know this. I am hoping of making a simple Captain America costume, the USO version from the movie ( propaganda version / star spangled man). I think its a spandex?

The auction catalog lists it as "a form fitting stretch material".

Spandex shirt, pants and shorts from the same manufacturer would give you a consistent shade of blue.
The bits left over from cutting the blue shirt to add the red and white could be used for your cowl.

I actually have that catalogue! but because i'm such a total newbie what material would be my best bet? this is my first costume so any links web pages etc would be so so so appreciated!

I went with Soffe red, white and navy on my shirt. It is not spandex but worth a try. Are you going to put the zipper on the back?

Soffe - Mens - Tops - Long Sleeve - Basic Long Sleeve Tee

The shorts are kind of goofy looking and maybe easiest made from a second pair of pants.

Thank you for links i was actually thinking of no zip..like a 2 piece costume? so no zip...foolish or not?

Don't know how much you sew.
But no zipper on the back of the shirt makes it easier to make.
Just add red and white parts to a blue shirt.

Just found a fabric that might be good...
