Hey guys!

My first post here! I've really enjoyed reading everyone's projects!
I've always enjoyed putting together and painting movie props in my garage- I've been doing it for the past 3 years. Not a very well known hobby in the land down under and in the area I live.

I've been recently reading all the threads for the Captain America shields and it has got me hooked!! So much, that I have decided to get amongst it and make an awesome one myself!!! It's going to be a challenge but I'm up for it!!

All week I've researched and sourced all the bits and pieces I need, today I've got the ball rolling with making the brackets out of aluminium sheets.

Ill keep everyone posted on my journey.

Even though my spun shield is here, I'm getting stuck into making the brackets- parts arrived in the mail, still waiting for the rest like the leather and buckles.
done a test spray with a scrap bracket I made to see the colours- gone with Dupli color- looks good so far- going to give it 24hrs and test the clear coat I got.
Stay tuned!image.jpgimage.jpg

Very cool. Is that a spun shield from Miami or did you source it locally?

Just finished putting together what I have for the brackets- today I'm taking a trip to the in laws to make the leather buckles with some power tools I don't have!
still waiting for the leather studs to come, I think the brackets will be finished this week- then I'll move on to prepping for the paint!
stay tuned!

Lovely work can't wait to see the paint!!
Where on earth did you source the shield from mate! There's a few Aussie side that are keen for one!

For all the questions on where I got the shield- I sold some stuff and forked out the money for a custom one from Miami- totally worth it!
i got the star from the Main Man, Valor and the brackets I'm making myself!
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to PM me!!!

Hey fellow Mornington-Peninsula guy :D

Can I ask - what/where/who is Miami? Looks fantastic - was thinking about trying to find somewhere to source one, but i didn't think there would be too many places that'd mill something that large.

Accurate Metal Spinning - Miami

This is the shop in Miami that everyone seems to be getting their blank from.

SuperCop, how are you going to attach the bracket to the back? JB Weld or some other metal on metal adhesive?

Also, where did you get your sheet aluminum and how did you cut? Could you expand upon your process a bit for us?

Thanks

Mark

I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out, I'm about to start one now I've found a spinner that already has the stuff in australia.

I really want to see how the pints turn out though, my experience is none of the sprays seem to work properly in out dryer climate.
