Capt America Shield + Display Table - star groves cut! new Accessory started!

Re: Capt America Shield(pep) + Display Table - need tips for details, help pls (see pg

well, thx chris :)

the cutting disc worked like a charm :)
its not perfect, but it never will be unless you get a turned aluminium one, which i dont have the money for :)
i will cut the star out of spare plastic sheet leftovers, so i got a 5 piecee star, and only need to detail the inner line in, much like chris did with his first star :)

so, again, thx to chris, my shield now looks like this, and is ready to be painted :)
now i need painting advice, for the cuts. the inner circle to the second one, is it blue or red? and the other two, white or red?
i appreciate the help :)

Nice, don't thank me too much, you did the great work! did you anchor the dremel to a center point? You could do this with a string or piece of thin plastic that can flex up and down, you just don't want the length to flex. If you did this by hand, then you could do the outer border of the star that way, and have a more accurate shield than any of us in terms of having a grooved star :)

As for paint... I still think you should try to do a base metalic silver, but brush it while it's wet to get the shield the brushed aluminum look. Then go over the color sections with red and blue clear tinted coats to give the anodized look. :)

i actually did it by hand, i didnt want to make a hole because i didnt want to fill anymore :) i thought about cutting the outlines of the star with the dremel, but if i am correct, the movie shield has the star "bolted" on, seeing how it has bolts in every corner :) i thought about plastic sheets, making the 5 arms, and cutting the inner lines with a exacto knife, as the dremel lines would be too thick :)

i never painted anything before, so im not sure if i can get the chrome paint the way i would want it to be

Re: Capt America Shield(pep) + Display Table - thx chris :) ready for paint(tips welc

very cool. On film one, the "rivets" in the star corners are just polished circles, and the star is flush with the rest of the shield, and grooved out. :)

For the paint, this is a beautiful project, so I would definitly test a lot of paints before trying it on the real thing.

I've honestly not done it either, so i would also have to test a lot of paint before giving any good advice. Your friend would probably know better than me.

There are also a ton of talented artists on these boards that could probably help, may want to start a new thread to ask the question and get their attention. :)

well i did the groves for the star too, and im quite pleased. i wouldve had it finished yesterday, but i had an accident with the shield, namely two big holes in the star, as there was an air bubble between fibreglass and paper, and when cutting the stars , ipinched right through. it was only a small hole at first, but i tore out all of the airbubble cover and filled againtoget it stable. i also randomly found an awesome tool for the grove cutting, im not even sure what it is,its kind of a small screw driver but with a pointy head, not a screw head. it worked perfectly for the groves that were to thin for dremeling. so here is the star pic (the one tip looks crooked, but isnt, its just uncovered resined paper, that is in the cut and on the star tip :) ) and also my captain america shield thin grove cutting thingy (thats the official name from now on!)

Re: Capt America Shield(pep) + Display Table - thx chris :) star groves cut!

so, as i am making the cap ww2 shirt, i was looking for tshirts to butcher today, and got a pretty good selection.

this will be used as a costume, but for the rest of the time, it will accompany the shield in the glas case, just for some extra flair

here are the base shirts :)
