Can we make an ALIEN Nostromo MU-TH-R 182 (Mother) key?

I think someone made a pretty good one some time ago. I think it was mostly plexi. Anybody have info or decent pics of it? I really want to do a few for me and a couple of friends. If this takes off, I think I can provide exact mesurements for the thickness of the key. (You hear that, Steve?! :lol)

I remember awhile back that Birdie was trying to gather info on what the parts were that were imbedded inside the key (I think he had photos of a prop auction?), but I don't think it went much further.

I've got pics of the prop that was sold by Propstore, I'll have to go pull them off another drive.

I don't remember the key... :confused

Me neither!

How did we miss this important prop key?
I feel empty! LOL

Anyone ever do any of the Nostromo self destruct goodies?

I was never so in love with blow up the ship hardware protocals since Bruce Dern popped off the Valley Forge.

I've been doing a lot of work with plexi lately between Dr. Theopolis and the Quantum Leap handlink. Post pics and I'll talk to my shop.

OMG that's ugly. Wow.

Well, the clear part can't be made using acrylic. It would have to cast in a clear resin with all the do dads in it. The shape and the handle shouldn't be too hard to make, but finding or laser cutting all of the do dads would be the real key to make this thing work.

Building MOTHER would be pretty straight forward. I have the same push button lights in my KITT I'm building.

I'd love to help work on it if we can figure out the laser cut bits.

It is an ugly beast.

Amen...

Full of period capacitors, inductors, potentiometers, electron tube base, contacts, relays and other bits-n-bobs. Would still be pretty cool to make along with the Mu-TH-UR that housed the key (seen at Propsummit).

I don't spot any relays, but I do see some metal-can transistors or ICs and what look like inductors (rectangular red components). It's amusing that all those contemporary components are just dumped in there with no logical connection. I had the same thought the first time I saw Captain Pike's communicator in "The Cage."

Shouldn't be too hard to find these components or good "close-enoughs." In fact, I probably have a few kicking around.

very cool.

What ever it takes to get one for Mr. Bob Burns. I have never met a more generous person who asks nothing in return. His screen used key was stolen from his house some time ago he told me.

Anyway... that is my drive to get these done.

Thanks
Steve

Does this mean that the one sold through Propstore was the one taken from Bob's house? I'd imagine there would have only been one key made.

Wow. Good point. Any way to check if there was more than one made?

I should make it clear by the way that I was in no way implicating Propstore in anything; obviously if there turns out to be only one key and the time-line adds up then the transaction would definitely have been made without the knowledge that it was stolen.

Remember folks this is all theory!

Steve, count me in to do anything I can to help. Getting to meet Mr. Burns and watch him gush all over the work you, Richie and Danita have been doing was awesome.
