Question Can I post questions in the OT about hacking 360's?

Yea, that's about it, I'd trust the people here over one the the 50 sites I've found through google any day and I figure they may have a better idea then ripping the drives apart and putting them in a computer to hack the 360 or buying a chip.

BTW and this is not hacking advise, as it applies to 100% legit replacement of the defective DVD drives as well, the DVD drive in the 360 is married to the motherboard, if you disrupt that marriage in any way it's divorce time and neither will work... There is only one way you are going to get the necessary marriage details as they are tucked and locked away inside the drives firmware, and that way is to coax them out with some hands on touchy feely action...

Ah, I was just hoping someone knew how to mod the xbox so I could fit heat sinks in on parts that are overheating and making it red ring.

The above link will provide that answer, and YouTube will provide you full video coverage from screw 1 to tab 30 on opening the 360's hermetically sealed box and doing the mod... There are even 'penny' mods for what you want to do, literally pennies stacked on top of each other with a wrap of tape, just the right height so when the unit is reassembled the pennies put constant downward pressure on the chips that are BGA soldered, so when they re-flow (unsolder due to heat build up) themselves they don't move, the unit cools down and they solder themselves back in place... The pennies also act as a heat sink, especially if you don't wrap tape all around them and let the metal sit on top of the chip with some heat sink grease... BTW make sure they are still wrapped good, if they get lose and fall apart in the Xbox it will be sparky city...

So now you have some search words head over to YouTube and type in a few of these search words... No 'hacking' just fixing something that is broken...

Thanks, I saw the pennies and even a towel trick, the towel worked or a little while but I wanted to use little heat sinks instead of pennies.

I'll go run around xboxscene and youtube for the answer.
