Can anyone on the board do laser cutting at reasonable rates?

I need to get a small laser-cutting project done. I need 2 small templates cut in plastic (abs or styrene preferably), approx 0.35mm thickness. Templates would be around 7 centimetres square.

Artwork would be provided as AI or EPS file.

If anyone offers this service, please PM or add to this thread with any suggestions of reasonably priced service that doesn't require a big run to set up.

Thanks,

Simon

Styrene is a no-no for laser cutting.

Acrylic is your best bet.

My local place charges 20 bucks for set up and a certain amount per minute.

If there is no etching, it could be cheap.

I too am looking for the same type of services. Almost exactly! If anyone has any info, please send it my way too.

Or just post here :)

I've had excellent experiences with getting styrene laser cut, so I'm not sure why it's rated as a no-no. I believe PVC emits a toxic gas when laser cut, but I don't think the same is true for styrene.

Not sure if this is any help and I don't want to start a UK rush on my PM account, but my brother runs a die-making company with a laser die cutter.

He's a massive Star Wars fan and could probably have his arm twisted for some cool Star Wars trades.

That said, he really prefers to work in plywood and steel, as that is what his machine is set up for.

Anyway let me know, I'll pass it on.
Steven
