Callmemilo's Chewbacca Costume Build

You definitely want to straighten the hair. I personally use a hair straightener on the absolute lowest setting (and move quickly so you don't melt the kanekalon). You also may want to consider blending some #6 in with the #27 to give your brown areas some depth. I've found that the best place for the grey is ikickshins and most of my other colours came from sally. Sculpt and cast are looking great thus far! Can't wait to see more!

Ok it's been almost 2 years since I've posted any updates, but I've been working on this one kinda in secret for the last couple months, mainly doing a BUTTLOAD of research into the various components I'm gonna be creating. But basically I've got a deadline for myself now... Star Wars Celebration London, July 2016! So here's just a few pics to show you guys where I'm at right now...

My leather bandolier with accurately sized aluminium boxes and the ANH discs in place. This is the first pass at dying the leather, and I don't think the colours look as deep as they should, so I may well do a second pass closer to completion. But for now, this is looking pretty darn cool.

Chewie's underskull, being fibreglassed by my friend Oli Mansfield (of Wibbly Wobbly FX in Denmark). The plan is to run wires from the jaw to control a lip snarl mech, just like the original Freeborn design. I've simplified a couple elements because I still consider myself a novice in the creature FX field of costuming, but I'm trying to keep it as authentic as possible. Hoping to get some 501st approval out of this costume lol.

... and finally, bowcaster progress! I figured out how to assemble my scopes (all accurate ones from what I can tell, but the scope mounts may be a little shorter than the ones used in the films) and have started working with a metalworker friend of mine (same guy who made my larger bandolier boxes) who I'm commissioning the remaining attachments out of. Also hoping to get a soundboard and ultra bright LED wired into the stock, to make the bowcaster fire at bucket-headed troopers hahaha.

Did you get this finished?

Actually yes! Still got a good amount of work to do before I can call this accurate; more hair to add, loads that requires serious styling, and still have to really finish up the feet and bowcaster. But it's coming along pretty well. Here are some pics from Celebration Europe 2016

Great looking costume!! I have to say though, it looks like hair is falling out of the arms, and legs (you can clearly see mesh). Just wanted to warn you about that one little prob just in case you tried to send in pics to the rebel legion, and that was against their standards. But great job so far!
