Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Assault Exo (3D print)

Hey guys. So lately I've gotten really good with 3DS Max with my Striker Eureka build. I've gotten so comfortable in fact, that I've decided to start another project. A 3D printed Advanced Warfare Assault Exo. I've been wanting to build one of these ever since the game came out, and now I'm comfortable enough to try it. My original plan was to rip a 3D model of the assault exo form the actual game, and convert it into a 3D printable file, but that hasn't worked out. So instead, I'm going to model it from scratch. Here is what I have so far. I've got the base shape of the bottom of the pack done. Its not much, but I think its a good start :D

Hey guys. Been grinding hard on the exo suit today. I got all of the base shaped for the pack done, and now I'm working on making it a single solid mesh. Here's what I have with 5 hours in

What do you guys think so far?

Hey guys. I got a lot of work done today. I got the pack done, and I gotta say, I love the way it looks.

And since the pack is done, I can start working on the arms and legs of the suit. I downloaded a model of a man to get the scaling right.

Hey guys. Got a pretty good chunk of the exo done. Finished off the arms and im going to start the legs later today. Here's what I have so far. I'm really liking how its looking

It looks kind of odd without a human model on it, but it still looks great

Hey guys, I finally have a new update. This one took a lot longer to get out because I ran into HUGE topology and STL issues when modeling the legs, and it ended with me scrapping my entire work and starting from scratch (on the legs that is). I'm loving how it looks. All I need to do now is model up the parts that connect the legs with the pack and it'll be done, and ready tp be prepped for printing.

I'm thinking of reworking the ankle area a bit. Not too sure yet

Hey guys. Long time no see. I've been hard at work actually. I found some game models ripped from the actual game and I've been working hard to make the files printable and wearable. I wasn't very happy with the one I modeled up. So What better template to go ff than an actual game model? I just finished the waist and lower body. Turns out the Assault exo is literally a specialist exo with a booster pack on it.

Also its much easier for me to make some detail parts like on the knee joints here. I plan to put a small metal nut in each hole to give it a more heavy metal look to it
Exo 3 v2.jpg

Here we have a closer look at the hips of the exo. Each "sphere" that you see linking the legs and waist together are actually fully functional ball and socket joints. Print out each one and snap them together. Easy as pie :)
Exo 4 v2.jpg

The back of the exo's waist are really complicated. They have these almost "wing" structures next to a large vent looking part. My guess is to let it boost jump and dodge around
Exo 5 v2.jpg

And here is what's in store. The blue is parts I still need to model up. As for the gloves, I'm going to model the hand guards like shown on the box art instead of those brass knuckles

Well that's how I spent my days off. Hope to get printing soon.

Great project, I want to see more exoframe costumes built :) Just imagine a paintball fight with all players wearing these.

I think your 3D pics might be easier to take in if they had poly wireframe nets on them though. My eyes at least are having trouble distinguishing features... I think your normals did not export correctly from the game, all information about hard and soft edges looks to be lost, so they all ended up being soft edges (resulting in confusing lighting).

Are you planning to 3d-print everything, or just medium and small parts, and hand-cut (or CNC) the larger ones? What printers are you thinking of using, and are they personal or outsourced?

Hey Guitar Pirate. Glad to see you here. Big fan of your Elysium exoskeleton project. The single mesh I imported all had hard edges, but 3DS max likes to soften the edges when I start separating the parts I want. I haven't quite figured out how to do hard edges in rendering pics, but it doesn't matter too much since unless Iput a smoothing modifier on it, the edges will remain hard by the time it gets to my printing software. I plan on 3D printing the whole thing on my personal 3D printer

Just for your information, mechatronics students at university of waterloo have build an COD kind of exosuit with wood and hydraulic pistons that actually work to increase lifting efficiency.

Hey guys. Been kinda busy with work, especially since business is picking up. But I was able to model up the hands for the exo suit. I used the official artwork of the game as reference. I'm going to export them as STL files and try on a finger before printing a full set

Was up until 4:30 am, but I finally got a test finger printed. My printer is starting to be a bit finicky to work properly, with 2 failed attempts. But the working set only took 45 mins to print. And after the frustration and blood, literal blood, I got my first one printed. I gotta say, I'm really happy with it. VERY happy with it. So much so that I may use it in my final costume.

I like the way it looks and feels, although its a bit big, even when I originally scaled it to my index finger. It fit better on my middle finger, and was still a tad bit big. At least I got the bearings for my scaling.

But these fingers weren't really designed to be as practical as they look. They look good on an open hand, but they all separate once I close my fist, or even flex my fingers a lot.

A small price to pay for how good I think it looks. I cant wait to get a whole hand printed
