CA Vader mod!

Hi all

Besides of quite a few other projects, I´m working on a CA Vader lid modification.
Below you can find a few pics of the helmet in its current status...

What do you think about the way the dome attaches to the face (creating the gap)?
Should I reduce the neckflare even more before starting to paint?

Any help/ input is highly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I think the neck flair looks ok for a ca. Maybe work the left side some more ( as u wear it ) Dome placement is much better, i want to do this mod to mine. Nice helmet.

I think the gap between the dome and helmet looks pretty good. Too close and the mask tends to get to "severe," if that is possible.

Thanks.

Any input from the Vader experts, please?
What about Thrawn an Co., those who´ve done this mod to their CA´s...any help?.

Markus

I think it looks really good as is.....if anything, i would think about thickening the edges of the dome flare to replicate the heavy movie look.

Hey Kalkamel, thanks...I already checked it out, but MOST of the pics don´t work anymore :unsure

Besides of that, Thrawns helmet shows a smaller gap between the face and the dome and I don´t have a clue if it´s because of the way he modified the T-mount or the way he attached the dome :confused

Hey Rich: Already thought of that, but this will be my new costuming helmet and I don´t want to create a mess :lol

What about the neckflare...o.k. or should I correct it even more?

Would you guys need any more pics to judge?

Markus

Markus, the neck flare looks fine to me. I wouldn't go any further with it.

Wish I could help you with the gap issue but I've never done a CA before.

I think the neck looks fine, also. Here's a pic of the "gap" in my project helmet:

Mine is a Rubies', but they have similarities. Hope that helps.

I just added more Velcro to the mask and dome for my CA. Let me tell you, a CA is a dream to work on compared to the Rubies Supreme, which I'm working on now. The CA is a MUCH softer plastic and much easier to fix flare. Enjoy your project.

Hi OdiWan72, your mod looks MUCH Cleaner than mine (I still have to go back and make it pretty). The neck on yours looks good, I wouldnt change it. About the gap between dome and faceplate, I reduced it by cutting the entire T-Mount off, then pushing the front of it underneath the mask, so it doesnt jut out forwards as much. As it is, it pushes the dome away from the mask. Heres a few pics I just took:

OUCH...seems like I can´t do that anymore without loosing some of the integral stability I gave to the CA.

We´ll see ;)

Thanks for the pics.

Wow, Thrawn... that looks just like the helmet on the cover of the OT Visual Guide. Nice work.

I still have to finish up the top there, im going to fill in the gaps with plastic weld so it has a nice finished look, and should be pretty sturdy. Its the only way I could find to get rid of the dome poking out so far :(
