C3PO Eye Material

Any one have suggestions as to where to find the same material (light panel of some sort) used inside the C3PO mask?

The lighting panel has a diamond pattern.

I have a theory that the same material was used inside the R2 dome.

I don't think an exact match has been found. The regular lighting diffusion plastic has diamonds that are too big.
I noticed the material on R2 as well. I think I pointed it out on the 3PO builder's forum. 3PO has the material with raised diamonds facing outward, R2 the pattern faces inward.

Zorg custom cast some small pieces of the material for 3PO eyes. I believe he cast some found object in clear to achieve the correct size pattern.

If you go to a lighting store that can custom order materials, they may have something very close.
As little as it's seen, I'm sure it was found and not something real rare, probably just available at the time and not now.

Yep.
All the resin stunt guns from ESB had the same material in the scope lens...
DL-44's, E-11's and DH-17's.
I picked up a small clear reflector that has a smaller, but incorrect, pattern on the backside. I was thinking about using it for my ESB DH-17.

Where is that pic from?

That is a standard 1.25" clear plastic reflector in the eye. You can see the lip around the edge.
It's the same piece I just mentioned I picked up as a possible substitute.
You can get them at Lowe's or Home Depot. I picked up a few in the Target dollar section months ago.
Every other 3PO I've seen has the diamond pattern (like little 4-sided pyramids) as do all the other props - R2, Interrogator Droid, and all the ESB stunt blasters.

I've never seen a C-3PO eye with that reflector type before.

Yeah, that eye looks just like a reflector, the diamonds are so small. Look at these.

It's odd then that this eye doesn't match any of the others.
The standard clear diamond pattern material was used quite a bit in ANH and ESB. Maybe the eye material was replaced at some point when it was refurbished.

The prequel eye posted above has modern light diffusion material in it.

The same square material is used in the midsection of the Interrogation Droid.
