OK, so yesterday I was playing SWTOR, and I went to the republic fleet to buy a blaster rifle. Behind one of the commendation vendors, I saw what looked like C-3PO's head. Has anyone seen this? It's on the top left.
I believe the book stated that he swiped parts from Watto's shop. Or was that for the pod racer?I thought lucas had him built from scratch by anakin. Most of the protocol droids all did look alike other than their finish it seems.
Didn't the original Star Wars novel or character background state the C-3PO protocol droid was about a thousand years old?

That wasn't the backhistory until TPM.Huh Anakin built him and Anakin is 1-2 thousand years after ToR.
If it's from scrounged parts... then he's basically a Frankenstein, rebuilt by Anakin, so Anakin isn't the maker... he's just the re-furbisher.Both 3PO and the pod racer were built from scrounged parts. Anybody else find it funny now when 3PO says "Thank the Maker" he's saying "Praise Darth Vader"?

Quite right, he was pretty old in the original Star Wars novel and i think Captain Antilles was his 12th owner......something like that...

So? It's the official story.
Anakin built him from salvaged parts. He also gloated how he modified him, which is why C3PO has 'more personality' than other protocol droids. It also explain why in episode 4, 5 and 6 he 'knows' more because his been around since Anakin activated him.
I asked a question regarding the original novel, not what TPM want to state as truth. And just because Anakin put him together from found parts, doesn't really make him the maker.
Just like anyone building a car from found parts. The parts were made by car companies... the guy putting it all together into a car, is just a builder.
From the link given by Ronan87...
"Originally activated on Affa in 112 BBY, C-3PO had served as a protocol droid to the emissary of the Manakron system. Nearly eighty years later, he was gutted and discarded on the streets of Mos Espa, a city on the Outer Rim world of Tatooine. After being rebuilt by the Human slave Anakin Skywalker, C-3PO served Skywalker and his mother Shmi for over ten years, performing household chores and helping Skywalker earn his freedom by winning a pod race."
