Built Mal's Firefly boots--sort of

Alright, I know these are not exactly like the boots Mal wore on Firefly, but they are as close as I was able to get them...call them an "interpretation". Please let me know what you all think of these.
They are built from leather left over from the Browncoat over a simple, slip-on leather shoe. I covered the entire shoe with the same leather, so it would all match. I was unable to get the same number of stitch lines on the front of the boot, so I settled for two. The uppers are glued and then hand-stitched to the shoe part. These were built over the course of about four days (to let the glue dry when necessary).

Questions, comments, and critiques are desired.

-EDIT-
I apologize for the thumbs, but I am unable to upload the pictures...something about them being too large.

Thank you. I have seen the thread discussing Mal's boots in detail, so I know they aren't exactly right, but I am glad you think they look good.

Good work again.
How did you get the ribs on the side of the boot?

Thank you.
I made the ribs using polystyrene plastic. I created a "mold" using a round cannister and three pieces of rope, and formed the heated plastic around them. I then glued them to the boots, and attached another piece of leather to the inside of the boots to hold them in place.

Those look great.

Thank you. They're actually comfortable, too. I spent most of Saturday just wandering around in them...
