BTTF2 - Grays Sports Almanac

I was wondering who makes the best Grays Sports Almanac from Back to the Future 2. I have one somewhere and wasn't happy with some little detail, I don't even remember what it was now but now I can't even find it.

I found this on ebay and wanted to know if anybody from here had bought one,

Back to the future 2

it comes with a dust jacket which none of the others I have seen in the past have.

It looks decent. The problem I have with ALL Almanacs is that the "grey" area is suppose to be reflective silver. Other than that most repro's are too big and not bound (just copied covers glued over books).

I have Gary's Almanac and a Almanac off of Ebay that every page has sports stats and is bound with extremely nice paper and thick cover.

It looks decent, but isn't this is the seller who bought the set of Grave photos from Kurtyboy and then started selling them on Ebay and his site. After contacting him, he removed them from Ebay, but I believe he is still selling them on the site.

So I say, don't support a known recaster:thumbsdown

I wonder why nobody has made it with reflective silver yet.

Your probably right, I had forgot about that until you brought it up.

I believe the silver of the screen used Almanacs comes from a metallic silver ink. Most hobbyists do not have access to this type of printing technology. You would probabaly have to go with custom screen printing to replicate it.

ALPS printers like the ones some people use to make decals can print the silver ink but those printers are not made anymore.

Every Almanac replica I have seen has "Authoritative" misspelled "Authoritive" (Back Cover). They also tend to have obvious incorrect fonts as well.

It'll be pretty easy to make a dust cover with silver reflective ink. You can then just put it over the Almanac or any other book.

If anyone is seriously thinking of making a more screen accurate Almanac PM me. I can help. :cool

I'm sending you a PM now.

Also, these things are ALWAYS made the wrong size. I don't have the right size handy just now, but it's not the size these things keep getting made at. The BTTF Prop Tour book has almost the exact size listed in the index at the back.

He's also selling a scan of Gary's production made clock photo (you can clearly see the 'tells' that Gary put in it).

Gary gave me permission to sell that photo in my BTTF3 set here at the RPF but I never put it on ebay.

So I'm wondering if this guy is a member here?

This is just a super quick JPG of the relevant page. I have all the pages scanned at high DPI, I've just not had time to work on it so far this year. Each page generally needs to be carefully descreened as every photo in the book has screening from the printing process. Cool book though. Was sold during the BTTF Special FX tour in Japan in the early 90s.

If anyone thinks it would help, I own an original 'backup' cover of the Almanac. This is an unfolded, cardstock cover with the silver ink. Purchased many years ago through the Williams Collection.
I did a short run of ten professionally bound replicas about five years ago which were direct copies of the cover I own. Since the printing facility was unable to duplicate the silver color, I had to do without it, but rest assured all the details are 100% correct minus the silver.
I keep hoping that someday soon an authentic replica will be offered that features the sliver ink, but if anyone here thinks we can have covers printed with it I would certainly be happy to contribute in any way that I can.

That one is what EVERYONE has trouble on, I would say to search CHINESE CHARACTERS on google images and see which ones look closest, print these out and iron them on a plain red shirt that you can buy at Gap for about 3 bucks,
