Limited Run BTTF Marty's future jacket run from Back to the Future

That looks really good!

So besides the price difference how does this compare to the Markpoon jacket?

I haven't seen the markpoon version in person so I can't really compare. For the price, you can't beat these ones though

Okay. Thank you for the response. Because from what I remember, especially on the screen-used jacket, the black liner had several cuts in it and was laid on top of the rainbow fabric.

Theres a guy on here called Roland and he's knows how this liner was made. And has made it. But he won't let on how. Just that it's a mixed synthetic fabric dyed is several stages then the creases pushed into it. This means the fabric is one piece.
Frustrating i know.
i have attempted to make this many times and failed. The creases and groves just drop out.
I used to think it was rainbow fabric with then a separate black piece layed over with slits cut into it. But not the case. It looks terrible.
its basically a crushed rainbow fabric then painted black.
Just not that simple to replicate.

I remember hearing a story about it. The original prop makers of the jackets were just given it to put into the jackets, they asked where it came from but we're not told. Just to use it.
Dont quote me on that last story, might just be hearsay

I don't remember Roland ever letting us know that he knows how to create the liner. Do you have a link to where he says this?

I'm sure he means another Roland. I haven't a clue how they created that liner. But here is an idea: painting the whole liner in rainbow colors, using an iron to create a lot of small folds on the fabric, then painting the whole liner black. The parts of the fabric under the folds should still be rainbow colored when opening the folds.

I may have got the user incorrect that said it. It was like 3 years ago over a Youtube message which thanks to Youtube, has since been deleted! But I do have the link to the video from the guy who is was chatting to. see below.
He defiantly told me it was Synthetic blend fabric, dyed in several stages then dyed black. for that I am 100% sure. And that he was working on getting the jackets manufactured and could not tell me the exact process. this for me was incredibly frustrating as I have figured out how I'm going to do the rest of the build but will not proceed without the inner lining.
If any of you know this guy and can get him to share his 'secrets' and not let it become a profit thing' good luck. But he didn't reply to my last message on Youtube, and that was like 2 years ago. 2015 Jacket has been on hold every since :cry. All or nothing.

Sorry about the Username mess up :$

I swear the guy had a RPF account also...?

anyway here is the link to the jacket video on youtube

I have a few yards of fabric left so I made a couple medium jackets, I tried to use ribs fabric to simulate the plastic/rubber belt and cuff, to make it more wearable. Also the 3d patch that I tried came out very nice, so I manage to keep the look and there's no worrying the jacket might be damaged.

I wore it to Petersen's automotive museum and got my picture taken next to the restored original DeLorean.
