I was at my parents last week and found these radios in a box :eek . I could not for the life of me remember where i had just seen them so i left them there. Last weekend i was watching BTTF 2 and realised i am an idiot. So while at their house yesterday i grabbed them. They are in nice shape for bouncing in a box for 20+years. Just a few scuffs. I tested them today and they both work. :thumbsup I wish i had the packaging. Anyone have a decent shot of the package card? How about the external Burgess battery label ?

I have a set of these on the way with the correct version of the package as seen in the movie. I will scan the packaging card and post in the Paper Prop BTTF thread when I get it. The correct model is #60-4014 but there are several others that are very similar.

Are there any good photos of an original from Part 3 with the Burgess Battery attached? I am going to make one of mine into this version. I have the battery label, I just need some reference for putting it together. :cool

and the packaging

That's the version I have on the way. I'm going to try to get a good clean scan of that card and post it whenever I get them. The original packaging is even harder to find than the radios are.

I have the battery and label already, so it shouldn't take too long to finish. What kind of wire is that Gary used for his replica in the 3rd pic?

One of my Walkie Talkies has a broken antenna.

Anybody have any idea where I could get a replacement that would be a good match? It's has 3 segments and it opens out to approximately 11.5", or 3-7/8" per segment. The bottom segment is about 1/8" in diameter, and the top one is about 1/16". (That isn't counting the part of the antenna that's inside the WT.)

It doesn't have to have the orange cap on the end. I can make that.

Almost finished with the walkie talkie. :thumbsup
I just have to find the right kind of caps for the terminals. I might also replace the wires if I can find some of that old style cloth covered wire.

If I can get my scanner working I will post that scan of the packaging card.

Hello,

Where did you find the Walkie Talkies with the packaging like in the movie ?

Did you have time yet to post a scan of the packaging card ?

Here are the scans. I reuploaded because the original Photobucket links are broken now.
The scan of the back side of the card might need additional cleanup. I never had time to finish it.
Just print them at 9.75"x5" on some photo paper and clip the edges with a corner rounder.

Just wanted to bump this up because I'm still looking for a replacement antenna for one of my radios. Anyone know where I can find something close enough to work?

I'm also in the process of replacing the terminal caps and wire to be more accurate, and repainting the ends of the Burgess battery in the correct colors. I will post some new photos when I get it done.

IIRC, on the broken antenna there is another style of Archer Space Patrol with the same antenna. All you need to do is unscrew it from the bottom and pull it out.

I had some old cloth covered wire that I used for my later replicas. The one shown above was just some white 12 ga I had floating around for a quick test.

The original production batteries were a piece of 1/16" walled aluminum tube with a wood core. The label was just added to it.

It's not exact, but the Archer SP 60-4001 has an antenna that's close enough to work. Now I can finish the other one. I haven't been able to find accurate caps for the battery terminals, but they are close enough for now.
