Blastomech update and a lot of showing off. BeeTee, Chopper, BB-8, and I attended a new local con called Forward City Con in Foley Al. Unfortunately the other droid builders and the 501st garrison couldn't make it. Weather threats were pretty severe but it held off until...well, it still hasn't hit yet.
I ended up dual wielding controllers for the day and did not do too bad. I was able to chase a group of kids with both droids and minimal casualties. And if you know what I know about these two, minimal casualties is not in their wheelhouse. Seriously though, no one was hurt and neither were the droids.
BeeTee handled like a dream. I think I have solved all my movement issues. At one point I handed the control to my father, a man that has never played a video game in his life, and he drove BeeTee like an old pro. He did not want to give the controller back. I think he might be hooked...
The only issue I ran into was the weight of that foam gun on the PVC joint. I cheaped out and superglued the pipe. I should have used real PVC glue. I'll probably be rebuilding that arm the proper way. A friend caught me taking the arms off when the crowd lulled.
Aside from that issue the whole event went off without a hitch. The droids were happy, I was happy, and the weather didn't kill everyone...neither did Chop or BeeTee.
Here's a short video of BeeTee wheeling around right before I removed his weapons.
