Bruce Willis is retiring for acting due to his condition of Apashia. This explains why he's taken on so many direct to DVD movies in the past few years. He was trying to save up as much money before retiring. It's a sad end to a career of a great talent.

Sorry to hear this. I believed he had some health problems when I saw his last movies. Playing is those low budget movies, might have been Bruce's way of saving some extra cash for the bills that could come now.

Unfortunate news. He did make some classic movies and even though he may have been phoning it in, at least he got paid.

I do have a feeling that Willis also chose to do these "bad straight to DVD" movies because they were decent paying and didnt require as much acting ability/wont be against against other great actors which could have made his issues more apparent.

I was speculating this exact thing a couple weeks ago.

Cognitive decline is terrible stuff.

This could explain a lot of Bruce's reputation in this century. Not just in the last couple years. The complaints that he's indifferent, grumpy, etc . . . that goes back for about a decade. But there was 30 previous years when he wasn't known for 'phoning it in.'

I read that aphasia is caused after some kind of brain injury, like through an accident or from a stroke. Neither of those options are very nice to think about happening to the man.

Bruce filed a lawsuit after he got a head injury from a pyro explosion in the early 2000s. I remember that story.

Until then the best Bruno story I have is working on the Last Boyscout, sitting in a police car with him and Damon Wayans, and he pulls out a harmonica and goes at it. Was the night filming the ending in front of the LA Coloseum. Fun times.
