Bronx Boba in da House! Fett Helmet scratchbuild Wip

Thanks Al!I added the side plates that the ear pieces sit on top of and made the bottom half of the range finder, that little sucker took a few hours to make now the top half and then the other side and then the rear vent area, range finder and add the dent and this will be a done deal if it comes out decent it will get brushed with some silicone.

Damn man... I love how you approached the dome. My magneto helmet has been a ***** in a half getting it the shape I want the dome.

I will def give that a try on my next build

Looking good so far.

Thanks Magneto, yeah foam is very vesatile it can be shaped into anything, and for a helmet you can vac form over it or just take a mold of it to get a hollow copy.

Alright good deal, I've just never seen that done in a separate step before.

It's coming along great, I like it a lot. You obviously have some good shaping skills.

I want to make the rear vent section next, that's a seam on mine that will need reinforcing, but the majority of it will get cut out anyways. I'll just add some extra fiberglass around the whole vent assembly when I mount it.

Your build is progressing very quickly but most importantly, it looks great, however one thing i can see is that it looks from the last picture you posted your visor area looks a little wonky, could just be the picture though.

Now that you mention it.

It looks like there is a slight bow outwards of the mandibles when looking from the front, and at the bottom it bends slightly outwards looking from the side.

Other than that the lines are exceptionally straight. I have been having to do a ton of work to get all my lines level. What techniques do you use for shaping? I have a feeling I could help myself out with improving my tools/techniques a bit.

Overall an excellent build but I do agree with Rosskow. If the photo isnt making it look odd the visor area is a little off. The visor line on the left side of the helmet looks like it curves inward a touch toward the bottom and the top visor ridge has a odd curve to it. Its minor, I can only assume you were going for the wavy ridgeline as seen in ROTJ but didnt quite get it.

thats just a critique tho its looks great and you definitely got some mad shaping skills...far superior to my own I might add. Id sport that lid...be proud, you have come a long way in a short amount of time sir. I look forward to seeing this in some color.

Yeah guys there is a slight bow in the visor are thats bugging me, I don't want to fill it to compensate because you'll see the difference in the lines from the thickness. I might just have to make a cut in that area to release the tension and heat the plastic to straighten it.

Thanks Zero, Got a bit done today, first did major surgery to fix the bow to straighten out the mandible profile and then fabricated the left ear piece just one more section to make and then the arm with the range finder the back vent and it's ready to mold.

Okay had to do some tweaking on the visor area added some length to each side and removed the rear strip to readjust it with the front brow strip.

Thanks CaptainMorgan, I couldn't sleep last night so I said let me take a crack at the dent I cut it out then sculpted in the contours still needs to be refined but close enough is good enough for now :love.

looking good.
if i can make one comment, the dent is a bit to big.
half a size too big
apart from that, real nice.
keep it coming.

it was going to say it looks a bit big, right shape just scale it down abit.

how did you do your dent, im going through moulding it from clay, casting it and inserting it into my helmet?

Looks like he just sculpted it out of the foam base, smoothed it and re-primered, that's just a guess though.

MadMikeee is sort of right, I traced the template over the area Rosskow then I cut it out the top layer is a Bondo shell like an egg I then used Magic Sculpt a 2 part self hardening clay formed it in the hole then sculpted the contours here you can see the scaling down of the dent, will let it set up in about 3-4 hours it will be hard enoungh to smooth and shape with a piece of sandpaper then prime it.
