Book of Eli SHEATH

Not sure if anyone still needs this info, but I saw a lot of interest a few months back. Now there's a specific topic for it.

If anyone wants to make one, its a 2-point sling with shoulder and rib pads. He has holes cut through his jacket to allow the straps to fit tightly around himself. From what I can tell, the only thing keeping the blade from falling out when hanging is that it is a TIGHT sheath. I have heard of sword and boot knife sheaths being so tight because the leather will sharpen the blade every time it is taken out or put in, but you see in the movie he is sharpening by hand. Who knows? It's definately tight to keep the blade in though.

Very nce, but as far as blade retention goes, the movie blade had rope tied around the blade to keep it tight in the sheath. That sheath has no retention straps, hard to keep such a heavy blade in place upside down.

That is not 100% true.. The sheath dose have a way that helps hold the blade in. a clip built into it. dosnt work that great They needed to tie the rope around when it came to fast action scenes
hope this helps Kevjh

That makes complete sense. Something similar to a IPSC holster for a handgun correct? Tight enough to hold it, but not so tight that it will come out with a good jerk.

I just put 2 and 2 together, your name being Kevjh and the name in the picture :)

Beings you have the actual screen used prop, could you possibly upload some images of it? I would like to get it as close as possible. The straps, pads, leather, etc. I would very much appreciate it!

I'm interested in the mechanics of this shealth as well. I'm curious as to how they engineered the blade to stay, especially the retention device.
