Bond Car Trivia...

Name at least two of the cars that Mr. Bond chased (or raced, or was chased by) while he was driving his classic silver Aston Martin DB5.

Or just scroll down...

1964 1/2 Mustang Convertible. Driven by the female sniper with the very poor shot in the Swiss alps in Goldfinger. Though the interior was red. Out with the red paint for me...

1994 Ferrari F355 driven by Xenia Onatopp in GoldenEye, racing Bond in the mountains above Monte Caro. In the film it was a targa top though; will have to simulate that on the model.

Collecting film-based 1:18 model cars is fun (and expnsive).

Even without going into obscure background vehicles, there are still TONS of subjects out there. I have over 50 cars. Most are licensed to the film, but many are (like this Mustang and Ferrari) simply available models of cars featured in film, though perhaps not "hero" cars.

I dunno, I think you should recreate one of the several foot long DB5 models used to film Skyfall. That would be a breathtaking creation.

Of course, that's only if you've got access to advanced woodworking tools, a very large 3D printer, or have Pep skills and HOURS of patience.

Or maybe I should buy a separate 1:18 DB5 for each one used in the series!

Let's see:
--Goldfinger (crashed and presumably totaled)
--Thunderball (a new gift from Q?)
--GoldenEye
--Tomorrow Never Dies (in the fictional world, the same car as the GoldenEye car?)
--Casino Royal

Ahhh, Bond cars... a subject near and dear to my heart as well. Only diecasts I have are the 1/18 diecast Beanstalk group (a subsidiary of Ford I believe) did for Die Another Day, specifically the Vanquish and the Jaguar (wasn't really interested in the T-bird since it had so little screen time). My personal collection has been of model kits though. I've got the MPC issue of the Airfix Toyota 2000GT, a couple Nichimo Lotus Esprits (one to do with wheels, the other with fins), A Ford Mustang for the Diamonds are Forever car and a couple others. I don't have a DB5 yet though. Open it up to OTHER vehicles such as planes, helicopters and the like and such a hobby could get VERY expensive!

Is the 2000GT in 1:24 scale?

Many of my 1:18 cars I have duplicated in 1:24 but oddly none of the Bond subjects.

Don't forget Skyfall!

That would be quite the collection, though. You could even make dioramas for them from their respective movies!

Is the 2000GT in 1:24 scale?

I see MPC listed the scale on the box as 1/25. I have no idea what scale Airfix called it in their boxings (the MPC kit has no mention of it being a Bond car, but it IS the same kit as it is the convertible NOT the hardtop, even including Aki for the drivers seat). It is pretty hard to spot the scale differences unless one gets 1/24 and 1/25 scale versions of the exact same subject sitting side by side.

Yeah the 1:24 / 1:25 thing with cars has been an issue (good, bad, or indiffferent) for ages...
