I saw the new poster and stumbled across the backback Bodhi is carrying.

(Actually, that thing was already shown on the sideshow-figure. But by that time I wasn't able to make anything out of it).
So I thought, I'd start a little thread for open speculation about what that's supposed to mean.

I don't think he's the firefighter of the crew, so here's my first guess:

In order to being able to transmit the death-star-plans, the rebel-crew has to hardwire their equipment to some kind of imperial comm-device.
I'd say, they've got to connect their ship-computer (which has some "slicing-software" installed) to a giant imperial antenna or something. That explains, why they need the cable: The ship-computer is too big to be carried around.
So they got to run a good old cable between them...

Of course that's just wild speculation.
Eager to hear your thoughts!

I think your right and its some kind of cable. Or ignition wire for explosives

Yeah! Actually the ignition-wire is even more likely! (Just think of all the stuff being blown up in the footage...).

But there is a new photo from the Topps trading cards, where the "wire" looks more like ordinary rope. How boring that would be... Bodhi just winching some other guy up or down somewhere...?

I still hope for some more high-tech or explosive effect!
