I finally got around to painting up my 'new' Boba Fett armor that I made out of sintra.
I had the armor cutout a while back but never got around to painting it ... thankfully along comes xmas break ..

Here where I started after cutting out the armor and shaping it ...

holy poop on a stick...

that looks awesome...

you dont happen to have the patterns for that do you? :confused

That's some nice looking sintra. I need to look into getting myself some made. My costume hasn't had any changes/add-ons/upgrades in far too long.

Thankd for the comments.
I got the templates over at the Dented Helmet.
The cod was done with two pieces ... one main piece that I bent to shape and the second top piece that's flat with the rounded bottom. I then bondo'd the gap at the crotch area. Turned out okay.

Cheers

Send me a PM letting me know what size you need and your e-mail address and I'll send you a set of templates. Both Boba & Jango templates are available. I also have templates for knee armor, BF Helmet and many more.

So is Sintra actually good for armor-making on a shoestring budget? This is the first i've heard of it, and it seems pretty neat.

Are these way-above average results, or would it be relatively easy fo someone to get this kind of smooth and plastic results with Sintra.

I ask becasue i wish to avoid fiberglass or pvc in my upcoming project...

Myster Mistery ... Sintra is quite easy to use as long as you don't have any compound curves. It bends in one direction very easy, but two directions can get pretty tricky unless you have something to heat/mold it over since you have to hold it in place while it cools.

why thank ya sir. :D

i just had a wierd thought... can you get sintra in a sort of silverish color? that way regaurdless of how you weather it, if it were to get scratched... itd be silver.... :confused

or at least a grey?

cant wait to try this. one day i want to get a fang bucket or MS or the like and paint it up... this will be great practice, and if nice enough, (like the ones in this thread.) then a full suit one day. B)

thanks again wizardofflight. :cheers

Ok...

This whole thing is good news. My next project has LOTS of pieces, but each one will only have 1 directional curves, and nearly all of those will be relatively abrupt, on about the same scale of curving as your fett armor.

Combine that with easy cutting, a nice weight (read: not made of metal), not water-damageable, and this "satin finish" they speak of, and I think I'm in business.

Step one: Finding it. Time to get looking...

That looks great....how easy is Sintra to shape? i'd love to make a custom Mandalorian...but the chest pieces need to be shaped different

Yep. It comes in assorted fruity flavors. If memory serves, white came in more thicknesses and was cheaper at the plastics store I got mine from.
