I know the outside of the grip frame is black, but is the whole frame supposed to be painted black as well?

The circled area is where the gun had broken in two. I'd have never known this if I had not taken it apart.

Can anyone tell me what is missing from this piece? It is definitely broken. It seemed to just be flopping around with nothing really holding it on.

Can anyone tell me what brand gunmetal was used to spray the barrel? I'm assuming this is the original paint job. It is flaking off where the vertical post attaches in front. I just need to touch it up.

I don't know such stuff. Just eyes. :)

Actually I think the "outer" grip frame, or at least that triangular area up top at the back, is black. The inner parts of the grip frame show as silver in my pics.

Note how the straps on the front and back of the grip are not black all the way down. The paint ends in a half-moon shape leaving bare metal below.

I paint the whole grip and it looks like that in the photos we took.

Well super glue will stick the parts back together...

I have used a few paints so can not say which was used some were automotive acrytics and another was vinal based.

But if you sand it good even Kryon will work well.

That it the rear part that goes on the reciver, a rod drilled into both ends before reglueing will make it stronger.

I have been studying the new pics and it would appear that the outer frame handle and the bulldog handle seems to be black. It seems to end when the bull dog handle is joined to the frame. I think its painted like that anyway. :) This prop has been so ellusive over the years. :)

Here's what I ended up with. Not entirely accurate, but close enough for me (at the moment). :)

I think it looks pretty damn good. I'm not fond of the sparkly "mettalic" paints on prop guns, but must confess to using a rustoleum mettalic on two props. :lol

And for spray paints off the shelf, I know you're going after the look of the newly photo'd hero gun, That's not the worst option.

Thanks. I agree with you on the sparkly metallic colors for guns. This was just a quickie to fix some things and make it a little more pleasing to the eye. I wondered why the gun was 'wobbly' when I bought it. I got it second-hand btw. Now it is pretty solid. You don't realize how much work goes into one of these things until you take one apart. Kudos to Coyle for making some of the best prop replicas out there.
