Yeah, welcome to the wonderful world that is the BR Blaster. I'm not exactly sure what it is about this incredible prop, but it was and is a game changer. It is highly admired by the prop community, including myself, and I didn't even like the movie! (Sorry BR fans). Maybe it's because it was such an early and extraordinary example of a sci-fi weapon kit-bashed from real-world parts. Or maybe that it disappeared for so many years and then appeared out of the blue. Again not really sure, but it really is something. Be warned though... Once you start down this road... Well let's just say it is highly addictive!!! As the following pics will prove.
Off World - a great starter option. Readily available on eBay. Mostly plastic unless you get the upgrade kit which gives it a metal outer frame, upper receiver and butt plate. As pictured...
Then there's the Tomenosuke. The Retail comes complete out of the box. It's amazing and like a freshly issued weapon. It is machine made so very clean lines and finish. Functions very well, cylinder revolves whenever the trigger is pulled. Lots of metal, but does have a weighted plastic barrel (due to Japan laws). Very nice blaster...
They also do a kit version which is awesome because you can do with it what you want! I went with a polished finish, known as a ghost around here. It's an easy enough assemble and a very nice kit...
The Sidkit is a lot more work to complete. Not for the faint hearted but doable with some time and patience. They occasionally pop up here and there as a kit or finished by someone. All metal. Lovely weight to it...
My favorite and the most screen accurate has to be the Racprops, Richard Coyle Worldcon version. Rich made this for me last year and it is simply stunning. The holy grail. Such an amazing hand-crafted prop...
Finally this Rick Ross masterpiece. Still available from Rick as either a kit or completed. It's mostly resin, but has an incredible paint finish. Also has lights, moving triggers and the suppressor screws on and off.
Here they all are together for size comparison, etc...
Those are your more common options, although there are others out there too. Good luck with your journey of discovery into this awesome prop. [emoji4]
