Blade Runner 2049 Live Fire?

So a while back when Adam Savage had talked Blade Runner blasters with Doug Harlocker, Harlocker mentioned there was a live fire made for Blade Runner 2049 out of a real bulldog and a real Steyr receiver. I never saw any other evidence pop up about it and was a bit dubious about that claim. At least I was until a member on PropSummit posted a video from a week ago of Vickers Tactical visiting ISS (Independent Studio Services), where they claim to show off the gun used by Harrison Ford in Blade Runner 2049.

A few things I notice from the get go:

-Steyr receiver is chemically de-Blued with the Steyr logo and the writing milled off on one side. It also is a 9xxx serial (from the photos it looks like 9500)
- possibly an of era bulldog (the hole for the removed cylinder guide is there but that can easily be replicated) this also looks either de Blued to a degree, or weathered to match the Steyr receiver.
- smooth triggers instead of the ridged
- weaver knob instead of the screw
- binding post is not weathered, just painted same black as the side cover.
- switch is black instead of white and there seems to me no decal saying on or off on the switch cover
- while not clearly seen in the video or film I’m assuming the Steyr magazine is accurate to 9xxx serial number Steyrs (it says .222 Rem Mag on the bottom instead of just .222 REM)

Edit: Tomenosuke has released a statement saying that most parts on the gun are theirs. Looking at small details like the weaver knob, I would agree with that. To what extend is not fully known yet but it may just be the Steyr receiver and Bulldog that are real.

What does everyone else think? Since it is a firearms prop house I have no reason to doubt them. Anyone notice anything else with this new version of the gun?

Thanks for sharing this. It's very cool. So, is the smooth trigger indicative of a specific type of bulldog 44 or is this a different basegun

The scene with Ford firing this, I had assumed was CGI muzzle flash. At least in a few shots. But Gosling firing the gun in the rain, and looking at the gun in the rain, in the end, I think that's the same gun Larry and Ken are looking at in the video.

The guys at ISS don't have a reason to lie about anything.

I believe you can buy smooth triggers for the Bulldog, otherwise it would be ground down. I think there is another CA gun that has a smooth trigger but the ISS guys said it was a Bulldog. You can buy smooth triggers for the k frame no problem.

Hey Roy, not sure if you’ve seen more photos of the Hero 2049 Blaster, but I have some better photos of it you may wanna check out! My photobucket account was hijacked or I’d post them here. I can email them to you, then you can post them here? Let me know.

Gun looks great. At least we didn't have to wait 30 years to find this one like the original hero.

Looks like the magazine is definitely a Tomenosuke:

Am I the only one who wants to claw their face off when they see that number and the maker's marks below the serial on the receiver instead of in line with it? I don't know why, it feels like creating a replica of the Firefly with a typo in the name on her hull or something... I get why prop departments can't worry about details like this that almost no one will ever notice, much less see on screen, but that one in particular is like nails on a chalkboard to me for some reason.

well, if this is a real steyr receiver, the prop maker didn't really have a choice.

Those stamps under the serial number were not put there by the prop dept. That is a real styer reciever, it would have had those marks when they got it.

Nice pics!! As for the serial number; a few years ago at Propsummit, one member (who didn`t stay that long after his first post) showed us the pics of the replica of Deck's gun with a clear attempt at removing the original Steyr number and replacing it with the one in the movie.
While the replica was extremely well built, you could see the dip on the canon where the transformations were made. Not impossible, but highly tricky to say the least:eek:

Yeah, I know, I guess in this case it just comes down to the accuracy of the recreation being more important than the materials it's made out for me.

The different serial doesn't even bother me on my own Steyr since "this one's mine" etc. It's specifically that the serial on Deckard's gun is wrong... well, one of them anyway. All the stunts appear to use the Tomen receiver with the correct serial on it:

Let me be clear: I loved the movie and everything in it. I'm by no means attempting to diminish the accomplishments of the prop makers here, the thing is a masterpiece. It's just one of those things that I can't unsee...

If this gun was used for blanks then it would have to be made strong and right..cast prop parts don't cut it.. check the live fire one on YouTube ..

I just have a cast rubber prop gun I weathered..good for fun..but I do make oddball blasters from scrap bits ..the loading gate on the little one opens upwards ..
