I have purchased a twin motor, and transmission. I know how to make then go the same direction, But don't know what type of switch to use to make them go out and then retract. Any help would be great...

Hey Dude that set up looks pretty solid. You need a toggle switch with 6 prongs. The 2 center prongs are for the 2 wires from the battery. Then you split the wires from the the moter so you have 4 instead of 2. You simply connect the wires opposite on each side if the center battery prongs. The switch changes the polarity to run the motor forward or reverse. You will need a temporary on toggle switch unless you put limit switches in place. Temporary just means you would have to hold the toggle in either direction and it will always go to off in the middle. Did that all make sense. Let me know, I've wired many of these.

One more thing, I have my doubts about the durability of those plastic gears. I have tried Tomoyo gear boxes and they stripped out quick on me. My set ups were much different and not with the twin set up so it might handle it. Good luck.

I kitbashed my tamiya kit and put a 7.2 v in there with a metal gear adapter, a dpdt switch is cheap on ebay ;)

I've always done it the way Jeff said.  The image below is the way I do it, and shows what Jeff was explaining (not stepping on your toes Jeff, just thought a pic would help  ;))
