Black Pearl - Captain's Room

Hi.

Wait until Sithcamaro sees this. Either he's gonna want to be your roomie or he's going to start hitting on your girlfriend. Consider yourself warned.
[/b]
Well, Sithcamaro wouldn't be successfull if he started hitting on me :rolleyes
My BF already looks like Captain Jack Sparrow, I don't need another one *g*

On friday we build the bed and we went to the homecenter yesterday to buy the wood for the desk and the shelves. We found a great lamp that will be in the middle of the room soon. It looks like an old smuggler's kerosine lamp - I suppose Jakob will put a picture online *using.jedi.mind.trick*
In the afternoon I recolored the shelves and the desk's board that we can start building the desk as soon as possible (which will be on wednesday or thursday).

so far,
may the force be with you,
Bhelia

May seem like a retro hijack, but do you have any pics of the Sin City look?[/b]
As far as I know there is no picture of the sin city wall... but we could simply repaint the caribbean island with black colour - add some white raindrops and some stylized skyscratchers and put three nails into the wall to hang up the sin-city-posters :D

Jakob, really nice work . Hope to be invited for the first party on board...

:D

Agreed, looks really great. I think the addition of a hidden fan or two, mixed with a light material curtain on the window would add a great breeze effect. I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished results.

I'm sorry mate. I didn't save any pictures of that walls and posters. Actually the Sin City look did not match with the rest of the furniture (blue wardrobe, glass desk, metal bedstead with china-style beddings... oh. And three MR lightsabers... Looked like an ugly rag rug with cool sabers and black walls :lol

Hi mate.

Of course you'll get an invitation. Rum and Fun :D

I've got some updates I'd like to show you guys. Last week Bhelia and I we were hardworking on that bed, desk and indirect lights mentioned earlier. Here are the results so far. I'll start with the desk

Some pics of the lights. We used neon lamps. There is still some work to do about that. We are not satisfied with the outcome so far ;)

Wow, the woodworking is looking great, and I *love* that hanging lamp.. :thumbsup :thumbsup

The indirect lighting is all at the top shining down (like sunlight/moonlight), right? The bottom view through the windows looks so bright that I couldn't tell if it was from the in-room lighting, or the camera flash, or if the majority of the lights were put in below the windows (where there would be more room and admittedly, an easier installation, but wouldn't replicate natural, exterior lighting)... I'd definitely try to get some sort of strip lighting of some sort to prevent localized bright spots, if possible...

That is looking AMAZINGLY cool. :D You guys are doing a fantastic job.

I think you need a giant pulsing rubber tentacle outside of a window :D
Good find on that pendant lamp.

Looks awesome... The only thing I would have done differently was to make stars and highlight the town in blacklight sensitive invisible ink and add a blacklight for a night effect, or just would have added a layer of sheet rock first, painted the background and added small LED's for stars and lights in the town

Good news. Between some pics of New Year Celebration 2005 I found pics of the Sin City Wall (R.I.P.):

This looks fantastic. As far as the seeming wash-out that your lights provide. You can pick up strands of a rope light from Wal-Mart, it's just a bunch of LED type lights inside a semi-flexible plastic tubing. I have some in my kitchen and out on my deck and them aren't super bright, but they light up just enough. You might think about running some around your window frames and seeing if you like the look that provides.

Also, can't wait to see this finished.

Great job so far.. Really impressive and I can't wait to see how it goes from here... But am loving the Sin City theme as well... If you have more pics of that, I'd love to see them.
