IMHO only the Command Division white collar looks good... you can see the other divisions here
Inexplicably Lt. Saavik is the only one wearing red. Then again all the other cadets are wearing those jumpsuits but she's an actual officer.
Here you can see the details of those big flaps on the jacket. These were treated inconsistently in later films. The flaps have snaps to attach them together, with the "luggage style" twist-lock to hold it to the shoulder strap. On the insides of the flaps, there is silver chain between the snaps, to suggest some sort of high-tech magnetic closure.

Okay - I knew I had these around here somewhere and it just so happens I ran across my disk. Now, this is the one from the now defunct Vegas Trek ride and I have no way of knowing if it was real or not but figured I'd share what I have. Sorry for the size.

Keep in mind that the pictures there of the "up close" uniform at the exhibit are a uniform that was re-finished or prepped for display by Kathy Pillsbury... the person who drafted the patter the Rodd.com sales... which is a terrible pattern that will not make a jacket that is even close to the real thing.... also my real jacket as well as a frine of mine who owns one of Chekov's has a different style of chaion on the flaps...

I guess Garver isn't willing to send his uniform for replication. Not that I blame him. I'd have a hard time sending that out too.
Yeah, I had a few people step forward who either had an original, or knew someone, etc... but nothing concrete so far. This is really something I'd only want to do with the best information possible (which of course, means having one in-hand). But in lieu of that, perhaps a LOT of high-quality photos, measurements, etc would be the next best thing. Matching the color and fabric perfectly (which seems very important to most) would be a big guessing game without a physical original. If that's not possible, than a Pantone book would at least help us get the color close.

Alright... I'm looking at doing this now and since noone with an original is willing to send one to me (totally understandable) could someone with access please check the Pantone color for me? This will at least let me get a good color for my repro.

Its not a secretive thing dude - these things are worth 5K and more to be sending to another country. Once things leave US hands, it becomes an international matter and people just don't feel safe. If anything the people who own these have been more than willing to give.

Yup, a lot of this research is all ready done. The problem with the red is that the person in charge of dyeing for all the movies varied from movie to movie. She even claims this and asks that when she dyes sets for a some sort of guidance (swatch, patone, etc)
Well, I may end up just going Solo on this and see what I can come up with. It looks like one of these jackets will be around $495 (shipped)... maybe a bit less.
