There is some good news which should help if you want to try to make your own or go the tailor route: the TWOK style patterns at roddenberry.com have been updated and people are saying they are much improved.

The new patterns are better! Perfect? No, but very good to say the least.

The toughest part is finding the proper fabrics.... anyone needs any advice or pics just contact me on any of the Trek costuming boards...

Indeed it is happening, and we should all be saving up. I've got my first kid on the way, arriving in April, and I'm still actually trying to stash a tiny bit away for these so when Anovos opens up pre-orders for the Wrath of Khan uniforms later this year I can get it. I've actually been thinking about purchasing the insignia and rank I'll need for my uniform.
