Best Opening Title Sequence in Movie history

Catch Me if you Can

Christmas Vacation

Of COURSE Superman and Star Wars..but I wanted to present a couple others that had my attention.

Personally, I think Mel brook's opening sequence for "Spaceballs" takes the cake.

People were literally falling out of their seats in the theatre...with laughter...

I actually really enjoyed the opening sequence for Casino Royale with Daniel Craig. It was different and refreshing and left me sitting in the seat actually thinking .."wow!"

Not the best opening scene EVER, but Tomorrow Never Dies had a great opening scene in the terrorist market.

Tomorrow Never Dies rescore - White Knight - YouTube

TOTALLY agree. When I saw this in the theatres my mind exploded with an "OMG this is the most awesome thing I've ever seen!"

Then the rest of the movie happened... :lol

But this is title sequences we're talking about and TND had a pretty bad one.

Lemme add Terminator 2.

That playground on fire was such a powerful image and the song so haunting it sets up what's at stake perfectly without a single word.

Many of my favorites are named before, but I liked the most:

STAR WARS 77 (no episode #)
Watchmen (about 30 years of history in a couple of minutes!)
On Her Majesty Secret Service ("This never happened to the other fellow" Simply great!)

1) Star Wars - The first time I saw this movie in 1977 was on Broadway in NYC in 70mm with Dolby sound. The screen was so big it felt like the ship came in over your head and you heard the sound from behind you, then over your head and then in front of you. It blew me away.

2) James Bond - The Spy Who loved Me - The Ski Jump at the beginning was great. What made it even better was that someone actually made the jump for real.

3) Superman The Movie

4) Star Trek: First Contact - Like Superman, the music along with the visual of the titles is really nice.
