Best Examples of Film & TV Chairs

Long and the short of it; I want a chair. Everyone should have a chair that is their chair that they sit in. I want to build my own chair and was thinking that a nice replica chair would be a nice addition. So I'm trying to think of good, notable chairs.

The Life-Support chair of Davros:

Doesn't look very comfy, but would be cool nonetheless.

Professor Xavier's Wheelchair:

A chair that I could rock in and not have to get up to go to the fridge would also be a bonus.

And then I'm out of ideas. Could you guys think of really nifty looking chairs that could feasibly be rebuilt?

Ejection seat based chairs. There are commercially made examples using surplus ejection seats, but maybe one from a space ship ejection seat.

I didn't even know spaceships have ejection seats :-S Be a nice Die Hard moment though. I've not seen one, but I'm sure a bit of a search will find me something. Military surplus stuff like that isn't too hot over here unfortunately.

Two favs:

and a Geiger one I'd just like to have:

and a nifty one I just ran across in imagesearch:

The Emperor's chair does look cool, but I've always been bothered by the arm rests. Looks like he's got his arms resting on the corner of the control panels. Can't be all that comfortable. Plus he'd have to hold his arms in place. If he relaxed, his arms would drop and hit the switches/buttons.

I'd want the Kirk chair.

Or perhaps a something a bit more morbid?

Or how about a royal throne?

Ya know, I've had blueprints for an electric chair with the intention of building one for YEARS! I think it would look just great in the front room... and give visitors an immediate idea of what kind of person lives here! I've just never quite qotten around to it. Would be a good project for summer, though.

One of my favorite TV chairs of all time was the classic "Ball Chair" from "The Prisoner".

This was the only photo I could find of one online, although the one in the series was white (I believe). From what I understand, it is still available, for about 2500 bucks.

I was about to mention that, where would you put your cup of coffee? Does the Emperor have a side table, maybe a footstool?

I'd want the Kirk chair.

That's not bad; nice arm rests, good ride height. Looks like someone's gone at the Mastermind Leather chair with fibreboard though.

I really like this one! I like the tessellating quadrilateral design, and looks like you could lounge and nap quite nicely in it. Though I must admit I don't recognise it :confused

A ball chair would be quite nice, I'd like to put some speakers and a bass unit in the walls for an immersive experience. Had a bit of a discussion as to how you'd make such a big hard shell. I was thinking cardboard and fibreglass.

How about Archie Bunker's Armchair? It is considered such an emblematic symbol of 70's TV that it currently resides at the Smithsonian.

Now here's a nice chair! I don't think it's from any movie or show... but it looks cool none-the-less. (Click on pic for link.)

I believe this is the guy who did the HIC desk?
