Best Endo Skull Kit

Hi all,

I want to get a 1.1 scale terminator endo skull but i cant afford the nice sideshow one.

I know there are kits out there but does anyone know which one it the most accurate, i would prefer resin and the vinal ones can distort.

cheers all

I scored an original Greyzon from Ebay (fiber). Although not entirely screen accurate it is very good. A one piece head kit (xept for the pistons), chin is a little overdone and the temples need to be scratchbuild I think.
I tend to clean it up, make it smooth enough for chroming paint and as detailde as I can and hope to do some casts of it in the future, to xperiment with it.

This even has a little neck, also one piece kit:

But be aware these are recasts, I'd ather buy one from Frontier than off eBay though.

This kit:

Would be the bomb if you found an original. I have had very bad xperience with Thai recasts. It's beyond a lot of work, it's non fixable.

I did contact a random buyer of this particular one, I'll let you know if he responds with some info or opinion on the quality.

But the latter is as far as can teel from the box artwork the best kit.

EDIT:

Found this one also:

Here you can see that the eyes are complex. Even has little ballbearingballs. Above picture differs fro the smaller image in the auction. Originallt the pistons would have been metal, the recasts has vinyls or resins I think. There are no purchases yet, so I can't contact any buyer.

Hope it helps a little.

EDIT:

Frontier also sells the complicated kit, I remember asking them about the quality ages ago, they said it was very good, but hey, it's all about sales.

God now THERE'S a project I would not want to do again...

Mine was an original M-1 (what all the overseas recasts are based off of). In my opinion the ONLY acceptable KIT of the skull -- licnesed and taken from an original. Albeit its a slight bit smaller.

Still not an easy project.

The best kit I have seen is the M1 and the GreyZone Version 2. The greyZone version 1 was nice but it had the "Jay Leno" chin. Version 2 was suppposidly cast from an original. Regardless, it was pretty accurate and it came with LED eyes.

I have a Greyzon I picked up at Comicon ages ago.

I have drilled the eyes out for lighting and wondering if anyone has suggestions for good eye lenses to use that look more then just a big jumbo LED, but imply some kind of optics inside worthy of a terminator.

Also, can resin handle being vacuum chromed?

I was thinking of having these guys do it.........

Ah, a Greyzon 1 or 2?

I was thinking to make the lenses from gluegun, eh, glue. That's rather matte and can be used to make forms. I have pictures of the lenses they use for the full size Sideshow, but I think it's not that good. Don't know why they have that pattern in them.

I think the led should be rather far in the back so you can't make it out.

By the way, mine is not resin but fiber.

And would you care to post some pics?

Thanks.

I have one of those Hobbywarrior kits in the pile to work on.

I did pick up some replacement LED's for the eyes. The kit came with 10mm Red and I found some 10mm clear red (so they are clear until lit, so that way I can have the tip poke through the front of the Eye and look like a proper lens. Should look pretty decent when done.

Its dated '93 on the back, looks like it has the Leno chin. Did not come with any kind of light kit or anything.
I assume mine is resin. A bit brittle and plastic like.

Exactely the same as mine:

Nice kit. Not entirely accurate. Indeed the chin and the upper jaw part. The top nose needs 4 little holes which ofcourse can easily be drilled. The major flaw are the temples though. Not very detailed and not deep enough.

Oh and it does working eyes indeed. I have a Arnie half endo sculpt I can try my idea for the LED with gluegun on. I need to find a dome shaped part that just fits. Keep yall posted.

But a very nice sculpt anyway.

Also thought about replacing the cast around the eyes for real balls etc. but maybe I shouldn't temper with it too much. I'm gonna sand mine, and prepair it for chroming paint. If that will be too xpensive, maybe AlacadII will do. I might want to cast some more, but just to xperiment with. Not sure yet. Propably just want to get my hands on the M1. Hopefully someone soon returns with quality news about those recast kits out there.

Please do post future progress in this topic, would be nice to have so many ideas and info available. If the topic starter agrees that is. ;)

i dont mind at all.

I have heard on the grape vine that there are resin kits off a hollywood hardwear endo skull.

anyone else hear that or is someone trying to blow smoke up my a$$.
