that pic looks pretty darn creepy
Yea it's is pretty damn creepy.
It's supposed to be an interpretation of Babylonian and Pagan story of creation, but without any specific religious connotations.
That's the cover-story anyways, he finally admitted in a Q&A that it's really a re-telling on celluloid of his near death experience, when he was 19 in a violent car crash.
Which adds a whole 'nother level of creepy!
Looking at your avatar, you might be interested in another one of his films, Shadow of the Vampire.
"
Shadow of the Vampire is a film about the making of a German all time classic silent horror-movie from 1922 called Nosferatu-Eine Symphonie des Grauens (Nosferatu-a Symphony of Horror). The production of Nosferatu had to deal with a lot of strange things (some crew members disappeared, some died). This movie focuses on the difficult relationship between Murnau, the director, and Schreck, the lead actor."
I haven't seen it, but from what I've read, it's a lot more conventional of a film than Begotten.
It's from 1990. It's on youtube if that sort of thing is what you like to watch. Yuck.
Yuk, exactly, that's the whole point.
There's nothing entertaining about Begotten, it's not a film, but a visceral experience, not meant to be enjoyed.
The YouTube version is broken-up and censored.
The uncensoered version can be found on Google video, if that sort of thing is what you like to watch, of course.
It's NR and NOT suitable for kids or, people with delicate sensibilities or, who are offended easily.
