Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

They aren't going to buy REAL helmets. Nazi or otherwise.. It could cost a fortune.

A shop that I worked at was hired to provide helmets in the past, and after some scouting a local prop house had a surplus of reproduction Nazi helmets. We ended up making a custom lid and producing them for the film, but if they didn't have the budget they'd have had repurposed Nazi buckets as well.

As I said, I'm sure the costumers went out and found the easiest and cheapest helmets they could in bulk, and they were reproduction Nazi helmets.

I know someone who worked on the costumes for the movie and I'll ask what his take on it is.

Maybe I wasn't too clear:thirty years ago the most common prop helmet would be ether German,American,or Brit from WWII but not nowadays we just don't have that many WWII films being made to have a lot of Nazi helmets laying about, however the Kevlar ones are teh standard and are everywhere and I've seen ABS ones for like $25

Go ahead and ask his answer might be interesting,my point is somebody had to go looking for those things I doubt you could just find them laying around before you'd find about a million Kevlar lids of all descriptions first, anything from costume jobs to actual surplus for cheap.

I agree on the issue of Kevlar PASGT vs. Stahlhelm, by and large your old US PASGT helmet is far common these days than the old German Stahlhelm, the next most common would be the old MICH helmet which succeeded the PASGT. Still, when you shows or movies with military or para-military personnel the most common helmet seen is the PASGT and can replicas can be got for pretty cheap these days, replica Stalhlhelms, not so much. I'm thinking that they chose the Stahlhelm specifically for a reason, it's just too iconic to have been chosen casually because they were able to get a great deal on them. Combine the helmets with the gas mask, the costume, and the patch, I think that they're clearly going for a very specific look that's meant to evoke certain emotions in the audience because of the resemblance to WW II Germans, specifically the SS.

I never once associated the helmets the actors are wearing in that trailer as Nazi WWII helmets until it was pointed out on here. If you're not a historian or a WWII buff, I don't think the gen pop would notice like I didn't.

Heard back from my friend but sadly he wasn't involved on the decision of helmets. Bummer.

I could certainly be wrong. I suppose once the movie comes out we'll have better insight into the decisions made.

Yeah me neither. All these helmets look the same to me, the only German helmet I recognize is the WW1 one with a spike in top ! And other WW1 helmets too actually. They had unique shapes. From WW2 up to now it seems they all have vaguely the same shape.

I think that the SupeTroops are all part of a dream sequence. Kal is fearing that his inspiration will start to have followers that become overpowering, and he doesn't accept it (see his expression when the bow.) I also think that the desert Batman is Kal's dream, he wants to stop Batman, if Supes pubicly says so, his followers will go straight out and try for him. But the soldiers are outmatched (one guy gets tossed by his Adam's apple) and are killed, (again: all a fear dream.) And then Kal feels guilty for their following and feels responsible for their deaths.

If Superman really does have soldiers, wouldn't they be at the senate place, doing riot control against the Superman opposers? We only see them in very unspecific areas (a tunnel with Supes, then above a tunnel with Bats) I would have to bet that its a what-if scenario. Superman doesn't need backup, and his back up soldiers should know that if they actually know Superman lol. If they are real, then they're just odd all together, supporting him is fine. But trying to assist a super powered alien that can kill anything on earth, and assisting him with a gun, is just straight unneccessary.

Or it's a loyalty thing. Governments want to make Sup's out to be the bad guy but some soldiers...the guys in the front lines risking their lives realize that Sup's is trying to help. I don't know if it's a dream sequence or not, but my personal interpretation for now is that they're not Superman's soldiers per say....but merely showing their allegiance to this man with Super Powers trying to make a difference in the world.

Either way, interesting thoughts being tossed around...and I want that soldier's coat with S emblem. ;)

Just a note reminding folks that Batman Vs. Superman was due to be released tomorrow - had it not been pushed back way back in January 2014.

I hope Superman has his own followers/mini arm it would be really interesting. if that scene in the Desert is not dream sequence and Batman would actually if he needs too but it is highly likely that it is a Dream Sequence showing Superman or Batman's worst fear's

If I were to predict anything about those superman nazis it's that they are doing what they did with the mutants in TDKR. They way they began to follow batman, yet misconstuing his MO

After Superman "saves" the world he becomes a divisive public figure. Lex, as a duplicitous benefactor, creates a special corps to maintain order around Superman but also to make him a oppressive public figure.

So what do you guys think of Gal Gadot now? I got admit, I was always rooting for her, but from what I've seen in the trailer, she has surpassed my expectations.

First, every time I see her I think "Famke Janssen". Second, isn't Wonder Woman supposed to be an Amazon warrior? Gal Godot looks like an underfed pilates instructor. She'll probably win me over once I've seen the movie, but so far I'm unimpressed.

I'm probably most excited about seeing her as Diana. She has the "exotic" (at the risk of being cliche') look that an Amazon should have. And she looked great in motion from the tiny bit we saw of her. I don't care what people have to say about her physique, Diana is magically powerful, she doesn't need to be a linebacker.

Wow, Grant Morrison is taking about two seconds worth of fight footage and making huge assumptions regarding the entire nature of the character in the movie.

It's easy to be "conciliatory" and "peace-seeking" when you can shrug off damned near anything a mortal human can throw at you Nothing can really harm you. However, when you get someone who can actually cause you physical harm and is intending to do so, it's time to fight, and when you fight, you tend to make those faces. It's not a testament to who you are as a person. It's an involuntary reaction meant to make you look more intimidating to an opponent. You can no more stop it than you can stop that sense of relief you get when you go to the bathroom.

Well, there is a chance he might be privy to more of the story of BvS than we are. Actually, if you look at the original interview - he says "...you see the latest shots of Gal Gadot in the costume, and it’s all sword and shield and her snarling at the camera" - that's the only direct reference to the movie he makes. A lot of what he mentions could be about the modern spins on WW we've gotten in comics... the article even references Brian Azarello's treatment (although Morrison himself didn't outright).
