Banned member "Boomer" turns out to be scammer Mitchell Dylan Laine

hallam not sure i understand your post? To my knowledge the PD goes in with a warrant seizes any stolen items, after booked into evidence(depending on what type of crime) can be returned to original owner. I understand they don't go looking for the owner, but if the person who filed the report can identify the property and prove it is theirs they take it. The QPD has a detailed list (pictures/ser#'s) of items that were "stolen" with everybody's contact info why would it cost Thousands of dollars to recover? I might have to cover return shipping but that should be it.

Well back in the thread the person reporting the arrest said all the stuff has gone. So if that is true the only option would be to sue to liquidate any other assets he has.

But most likely the whole lot went up either his nose or a vein.

sad to hear this Funky!!
I am more dissapointed that we will be all labeled the same due to this P***K!!
I am also sure Kev vader has put out this on the TAG forum, where a TK suit would easily be sold, sorry if I missed this already!

In my experience as you know, when things dont turn up within a couple of weeks, report it immediately, especially when the emails stop!!
Nothing takes over 2-3 weeks tops.......unless it has not been sent when it was said it was! Any other excuse is simply that!, an excuse.
I have sent that many parcels everywhere, and none was ever delayed that long that I had to dissapear from a forum!
It is an embarrasement for the rest of us .
If there is anything i can do for you Funky , let me know.
Mars

Thanks, Mars. I appreciate you, bro.

A couple of notes.
I've always been a little nervous about shipping overseas as the laws are different and tougher to prosecute if scammed. I figure worse case, if the dollar value is high enough, I WILL show up on your doorstep to collect. I've done it before and I'll do it again. No, I'm not saying I'll show up to kick your ass, but if a scammer is suddenly faced by the scamee showing up at their door, they will become polite, apologetic, will immediately give you your item and will compensate you for your time. If the scammer lives in Australia, there's no chance I can get to you.
No, of course I'm not shutting down all trades and sales to Oz, however, I had damn well better know who you are or I'll wait before your item arrives before I send you anything.

On another note, what's chucklehead doing with the stolen items? Why hasn't anything shown up before? I mean, it's not stereos and gold watches which you can hock anywhere, it's high profile prop stuff. It's BOUND to show up, yes?

But can someone tell 110% if an item is one that was stolen ? Eg. He could show up on a forum, present a suit to sell and say "I got this at a con x years ago" if asked. Unless there are a maker's tell-tale marks on a one-off item that was made, I think it would be very hard to tell that b'that' specific suit is a stolen one. It would be easier to back-trace, 'identify' eg, a gold watch, through its serial number, if it gets picked up by the cops. (?)

That's why I think he has friends helping him by hiding the stuff for him until things die down and then getting a cut of whatever he makes on it.

My bet is he is parting stuff out. Some in trade, and some through ebay. He is not selling complete suits, but a piece here and a piece there to make money. He probably has three or four ebay accounts, and they most likely don't have a location of Australia. I have two accounts, one listed as Florida, but my old one from Ohio still has the Ohio location. I just don't use that one, so I never got around to changing it. So it is possible to list without it showing your true location.

Hey folks,

I probably am almost as furious about this scammer as those who actually got scammed, but I still must ask everyone to not suggest any illegal activities such as executing violent acts against the perp.

Although this is an extrodinary situation, we still have to stick to the general rules when making a post.

Thanks,

I completely agree, Michael.
Just for clarification, I have NEVER threatened anybody with violence. In both cases where I showed up on the perp's doorstep, I ask for the perp by name and then politely intoduce myself. I simply said, "I was in the area and I know you probably got busy so I wanted to save a few bucks on shipping and just thought it would be easier for me to come by and pick it up." or words to that effect. I'm not a 7 foot muscular fellow with a swastica tatooed on my forehead, so I don't feel either of these folks felt I posed any threat. I suppose they could have just slammed the door on my face but they didn't. In both cases I was invited in, offered a drink, given my item and offered additional items for compensation. I've never heard, "I'm SO very sorry! I completely forgot!"'s so many times! :lol I think it's really the embarassment and the fact that I can walk away and come back in 30 minutes with the police at their doorstep that these people suddenly want to cooporate. The fact that they are a faceless, nameless scammer hiding behind the internet with no real connection to you and your money but suddenly you're face to face that always makes people want to do the right thing.

Wow. It sounds like everyone has been having one heck of a time. I've been reading thru this thread. It's the first time I've seen something like this unfold. Good luck guys!

If it helps my Hellboy book is pretty unique. Only about 20 out there so if it shows up it would be fairly easy to spot.

Hey guys, just piping in to say this sucks and I"m really sorry to see that stuff like this goes on. I have to say I admire you, the guys that stick with it and don't get your trust trampled on to the point of no return.

If it's any consolation, I ran a professional music business for ten years, which I gave up after graduating college out of frustration. It sadly seems to be a common theme in cottage industries like this and others that more often than not, someone has always got their hand out or their eyes open for a back stab or a low blow.

It was enough get me out of the biz, but on the customers side of things, they don't or aren't aware that any of this goes on and that's the real crime. Sadly many of your items are probably gone through multiple ebay accounts. The buyers were probably none the wiser simply because they saw a good deal and didn't know the warning signs or they just didn't care.

You guys are right, circles like these aren't that big and the key is to stick together and raise awareness. Good job all the way around!

It turns out Chucklehead has an active eBay account. Unfortunately, eBay won't share his username so no way to track his account.

I have found him, thanks to his contact information... and tell it to Funky...

But, because of a matter of privacy, eBay does not reveal the username unless you have already done business with him...

As I am not involved nor a victim, but just an RPF mate, I can't have the power to get an injunction from the court...

As I told to Funky, a friend of mine who does his lawyer trainee in Brisbane gave me the name of criminal lawyers in Brisbane, and told me that they are sharks !!!!!

I can't more recommend you to all group yourself, and share the lawyers fees... it is your only way to : first. stay tuned legally - Second. have a chance to make your voice heard during the trial - third. have the chance to get your stuff back - forth. have the investigation powers.

Just talk about it via Pm, but I promise you that it is the only option you have... it is your only hope obi wan :lol !
