Hello all!
Seeing as this is my first post into this esteemed forum, I thought it would be fitting to make it a rather good one! (Or at least good in my opinion!)
Ever since I saw the new movie in the Batman trilogy, I've wanted to create Bane's epic mask.
After looking through the RPF, I decided to bite the bullet and actually make one for myself.
Heavily based around d_jedi1's attempt, I present to you my WIP Bane mask!
________
Unfortunately, I forgot to grab pictures of the bare respirator I started with before covering it with foam and plastic.
The base of the mask, as I said above, is a basic rubber M3 respirator. I cut off the original straps from the mask, and added a guitar strap for the top strap. After much frustration, a failed attempt at adding the side straps, and a bit too much inhalation of superglue fumes from testing it out while it was still drying, I figured out a way to attach the sides straps using an old REI backpack and some plastic snaps.

The plastic mouth looking thing you can see there is a very lucky stab at extending the mask that worked perfectly.
The area above the mesh is a bit rough, and hindsight 20/20, I should have touched it up a bit, but I'd already attached the top row of tubing and it was a bit too late for regrets.

Most of the tubes are in place in this shot, I think ten of the needed fourteen are there. I'm planning on getting my hands on some Bondo and smoothing the tube joint areas out. As well as the bottom of the mask where the flaps are folded over.
On a completely unrelated note, anybody know if Bondo melts craft foam?

Forgot once again to take pictures while working on the side armor, so in this shot, it's all attached.
I sewed on the bottom layer of foam, and then superglued a roughly shaped top layer on before cutting it to the shape I wanted.
I'm duel layering it for the offset effect you can see on the movie replica.
I'm planning on putting the tubing that runs over the top of the mask on tomorrow, so I may post another couple pictures after that's finished!
Cheers, Evan.
