BAD TRADER - Darth Cross

So, the depressing tale is...

Richard offered a kit of the Hellboy Samaritan in the Junkyard and I expressed interest.

When he stated that the kits were ready, I tendered payment (as always via PayPal) on 21st March.

I then waited for a while for confirmation of shipping before PMing him for word on developments.

Despite Richard's assurance that the kit would be shipping on 2nd April I neither received the kit nor any further communication or updates from him despite posts, PMs and e-mail.

This despite the fact that he logged on to the forum on 24th April and would have been able to access said PMs & posts.

After a final request by myself for any form of communication (post, PM or e-mail) from Richard, I finally opened a PayPal Dispute on 4th May.

I have now recovered most of my payment (thanks, PayPal) but have still had no response from Richard.

This whole thing leaves a very bad taste in my mouth, all the more because of the total reliability and honour shown by all others I have purchased from on the RPF.

If you happen to read this, Richard, you give the hobby a bad name.

To see the whole pitiful debacle, see the below thread.

I originally showed some interest when he first posted the idea. Now after hearing this, I'm glad I backed out when sideshow introduced their licensed piece for HBII.

On the upside, at least you were able to recover your funds. I got burned by an ex-member. Paypal found in my favor, but was unable to recover any funds.

Got burned on a trade by him as well. Ticked me off, cause I'm stuck with three Davy Jones' pipes cause he wanted two and another member flaked on the trade . . .Ughh . .what's with this place lately!? And that's coming from ME!

Not from my point of view.

No contact, no explanation...

A true Caveat Emptor, IMHO.

I think people like this should be banned, unless they can explain what happened.
*edit* and from what i see on the next page it seems he did *edit*

I was one of the few that actually received a kit. I know of I think 2 others who did as well but I had to file a claim with Paypal before I got it.

:unsure

Sorry things didn't work out as well.

Did anyone PM a Mod? Don't assume that they read every thread that is posted...

Let them know that there is a problem, and I'm sure they'll look into it.

Hey, he should have money. He was selling casts of the GINO Vader chest armor a few months back through Sporak, I believe.

Does it seem like there are more of these things happening lately than there used to be? I only joined the RPF back in June, but I have been looking in on the RPF for a long time and I had never noticed too many problems like this.

I think it is the same as it always was (not that I have always been here, but based on what I know). Always a few bad apples in the bunch.:unsure

I think I had better try to answer some questions and make some apologies to all the people who feel that I have been less honorable with them.

Dalroi, I'm sorry for all the trouble I caused you. Was I in the wrong? Yes. I failed to ship your (and other's) Samaritians in a quick and timely manner. And when you filed the PayPal dispute I refunded all your money (the last $7 of it when I was able to put more funds in the account).

Also, I will admit to not being very good at communicating. I have some medical problems that cause me some amount of pain and I'm also being treated for depression. As a result, when problems arise I tend to withdraw into myself and not respond to the problems.

Add in the fact that I had already refunded your money, and I thought that there was nothing more to say about this. Obviously I was wrong about this and I apologize for not replying.

I also owe you an apology CeSquared for the delays and trouble I put you through.

Hotshot, will you please contact me. I have a PM from you dated 9-11-08 that we need to discuss.

And as for having lots of money from the sale of all those Gino armors. Maybe Sporak will help put out the answer to that.

If anyone reading this wishes to discuss anything. I will gladly give you all my contact info (including phone number) so that we can resolve our differences.

Richard

Since neither Dalroi or Hotshot has attempted to contact me (publicly or privately) so that we can work out any problems we might have. Then in my own defense I guess it's up to me to present some of the facts I have in my posession.

Mar 21 Dalroi sent $180 via PayPal
May 4 Dalroi opened dispute
May 15 I refunded $172.68 (amount minus PayPal fee)
Jun 26 Sent refund of $7.32 to cover cost of fees
Jul 1 Transaction of Jun 26 completed after bank transfer of funds

Dalroi, please let me know what issues you have with me. I have publicly admitted and apologized for my part in our failed transaction. And I have not personally attempted to sell anything in the JY since the fiasco with the Samaritans. (Sporak did the Vader armor to try and help me, I have nothing to do with any of the transactions or shipping). So I have to ask why you'd bring this up now? What possible reason or problem do you have with me? Please I really want to know.

Hotshot, on Sept 11th I received a PM from you about receiving the Samaritan I sent. If you have a problem with it, Please tell me and I'll do everything in my power to fix any problem you have with it. I'm just a bit hurt that you'd jump on the bandwagon saying that I didn't send you one and left you holding the bag on the pipes.

That's all I have to say on this. If anyone involved wants to discuss anything about it (publicly or privately). I'm more than willing to engage in a respectful and civil dialog with you.

Richard

Richard, for what it's worth (and I don't know you) it looks to me like you are sincere in trying to repair any damage. That takes integerity. I appreciate it. :thumbsup

Hotshot,
I volunteered my personal copy of the Samaritan which Richard sent you...
Have you sent his pipes yet?
Apparently he has a PM from you which states you recieved it.
You're not just jumping in and slandering the guy for nothing are you?

Dalroi ...
Why are you bringing this up now months after you have recieved your refund?
Are you still owed something? If so, what?
You have your money AND several apologies...what are you wanting?
What's the point of this thread after all this time?

Qui-Gonzales,
Yup..he did have the money and he has refunded everyone he owes...months ago.
This is a dead issue.

Specifics people...why the hate?

My God, where's the understanding and humanity gone?
Richard suffers from Acute Depression..he is on medication...you should see him in person sometime...he's the first person to SLAM himself.

Alternatively he can build the heck out of anything and do it from scratch...he has problems with finishing and getting stuff out and done , that's where I have stepped in to help.

If you have any problems with outstanding orders talk to me...I have all of Richards molds here and will take care of it.

Why do I do it? To get rich???
Nope...
Just because I can and to help a nice guy out.

Thanks Funky, There is a lot of integrity in Richard.

not being involved personally my comments are probably not worth a lot but I will say it takes courage and balls to come on and post apologies in an attempt to rectify a bad transaction, good for you and I hope things pick up for you DC:thumbsup

Richard,

I do not know you but I know it takes a bit of courage to stand up publicly on a forum and admit to mistakes on your part and more courage to do the apologising.

It also looks like you have refunded the hurt parties and tried everything in your power to make right everything.

How often do people get into this position and just run away leaving people without props and money. You have not done this you have done the right thing as best you could :thumbsup

Sorry to hear about the problems you have with depression. From experience of people I have known with depression it is a very tough hurdle to jump but you can do it.

Good luck

Chris

Pretty sure I wasn't slandering, but you're most definatly baiting :rolleyes

My post is from MARCH . . .not in the last few days. Be sure to check these kind of things. i made a perfectly legit, unoffending post at about the saem time a huge group of folks were asking where their cash was.

I AM curious to know, why on earth refund everyone, but send your personal copy along for a trade you could have walked away free and clear?

Weird . . .

I'll be sure to get the pipe out, to be honest, I completely forgot about it since September . . .guess I've been busy with those runs I'm actually deleivering on. Sorry!

Best of luck to you both!

With respect to Richard as well as you Sporak, it's hard to understand when no information is given to understand.

I'm willing to bet this is the first time anyone here has heard this. It is for me. Instead we see a thread in the JY with pictures saying he has these Samaritan kits for sale so of course in good faith of what is the RPF, many send their hard earned money. In my case, I received a message saying money received and the kit would go out ASAP. 2 weeks later I receive another saying "Sorry, I haven't gotten to send it yet." 1 more goes by and still nothing. With my 45 day limit of filing a Paypal claim, I did so. I received the Samaritan kit a week or so later. The whole transaction took over a month for an item that was "ready to ship upon receipt of payment". By the time I actually received it, I had lost interest and it's still sitting unassembled in the same box it arrived in, untouched.

I commend you Richard for addressing these issues here as well as for seeking help with your depression. And to you Sporak for speaking up for your friend. However, as with any seller, communication with your customers is key. If we had known these things earlier, it would have alleviated much of the bad blood. :thumbsup
