Backdating Moebius' Cylon Raider

Thanks for the info. Will definately check it out.

Great work on that scar again. It really looks like metal damage.

Looking good!
I like the new BSG but not enough of a fan I guess. I didn't know that the Raider was season 4.
Thanks for pointing that out!

No worries Kenny. It was a bit of a kerfuffle, Moebius got the the licence to do the season 4 raider, but the box art they were given was the season 1-3 version. There were some inexplicably upset people.

A near studio scale(1:32 instead of 1:24) model for less than $50.00? Yes please!

Plus, as you've seen with my build, backdating the kit isn't all that difficult. The only thing I didn't do was redo the panel lines.

Next update: The custom base!

I'm thinking that this could become the basis for my next YouTube video.

Make Love the Bruce campbell Way!

Oh wait, that title's already taken!:facepalm I guess I'll just have to come up with some generic tutorial name!:unsure

For this (and my Serenity build BTW) I used a nice cheap frame from Ikea as my starting point.

It's Ribba for your pleasure

I then skinned it with .020 styrene, and drilled out a hole for the stand

To keep the base from flexing from the weight of the kit, I added some bracing and a box filled with aves to keep the stand steady

For the top of the stand, I wanted something definitely Cylon, so I used this earlier base from a failed build to stencil out a pentagon. the size was perfect for the base so I didn't need to resize

After that I added the raised details and tied it into to the "damaged" theme of the build,

At this point the base is resting comfortably in primer. I noticed a couple spots to tidy up, but I should be good to throw some paint on it in a couple days. I know I'm going to use primer grey and green for the logo, but what color should I paint the rest of the base?

Whoa! That is excellent!

Makes me feel like doing a Scar too, with some 'modified' LED sequence.... well, one day, that is.
