Back to the Future NIKE AIRMAG replicas

Nike themselves haven't figured out how to make a clear rubber outsole that doesn't eventually turn yellow. There seems to be no way around it. Among other things, I'm a rare sneaker collector, and I've tried everything I could think of to keep those sneakers that I've owned with clear soles from yellowing. This is an image of the Air Jordan 11 with clear rubber outsoles as they would look "brand new":

...and here's the same shoes, still new (never used), but aged a bit:

It's inevitable. Maybe by 2015 they'll figure it out. ;)

Well, you're not just gonna leave us like that, are you? Where's the pics?

you need "SEAGLOW" :)

New to this site, so hello everyone!
I got a set of the AirMag Replicas and love them. I am going to try to add LEDS in the areas that don't light up and will post some pics when done. I'm also working on the Pepsi Perfect Prop with Pop-Up Lids, which the same mold will work with the Slice, and Diet, so all 3 will have the working pop-up's. The Resin looks perfect, just like Pepsi. Thanks, BTTF123*

Thats Awesome .

This is definitely one of those props thats a must have.

a few years ago i signed a petition to nike , tryen to get em to make the shoe by 2015. anyone else do that .

Welcome Tim.... good to see you here.

Thanks Brad !
Yea, can't understand why Nike will not make these shoes? They would make so much $$$$, even if the buyer has not seen the BTTF Movies, they would still buy them. Nike puts out so many shoes that suck, and they can't take one for the team. These Replicas are a good fix if you have always wanted a set of the real shoes for your BTTF collection.

I completely agree. I really wish they would. I would so buy like ten pairs!:lol

They have gone and done it.

Well, not really screen accurate at all, but at least it's something.

$500.00

"Nike will release a limited version of the Hyperdunk, this years most talked about basketball shoe, in a Back tot the Future inspired color scheme. The sneakers are expected to be released later this Summer."

I wasn't sure were to place this, but with all the hype around the MAGS, I figured what the heck.

I know MP is the guy for these shoes and those replicas are great. Years ago I thought it would be cool to try to make these shoes...so I started. The sole was the first "sculpt" I made (size 10.5, btw)

I settled on grey Neoprene to use for the main shoe and would mold the sole and cast it in urethane rubber. I created the "last" (the thing that is used to mold the shape of the fabric on the shoe. The next thing I needed to do was find a suitable pattern for the waffling on the sole and the side "bulges" where the lights are, and that's where I stalled.

Then after getting so far on the right shoe, I was like "crap. I've got to make the LEFT one now...blah!"

So I shelved the project. Naturally with all the new reference material and new found inspiration I am revisiting this and I think I might have a new (old) project. :)

Hey Java,
I remember when you stated this project.

If you want advice on the facbric, the new NIKE MAG's are not using a neoprene but something else. It has a bit of texture to it. It's almost like the same Jumbo Spandex that the Superman costume is made of.
