Done / Completed Back To The Future Marty McFly 2015 Hover Board Run. 2024 Run NOW FINISHED

My top and bottom yellow decals are lifting. Anyone else having issues?

Any ideas on how to fix? Bummed, but looking to get it back to 100%.

Thanks.
Hi, I've had a few people get in touch over this issue. Not sure what it is with the yellow? I'll have to put together a video on how to fix. I'll try get it done the weekend. I was supposed to put one together a few weeks ago for another, but life has been mental.

Most of this vinyl stuff tends to shrink over time (depending on the material). And the lenticular material (at least the one I got from Sommers Plastics) feels a little greasy. I would clean it with rubbing alcohol or window cleaner before sticking the vinyl.

Yeah did all that for each one. Just seems to be the yellow. Weird. Must be super shrinky.

I would have tried this, I think ;)

Lay 3M flat on table with sticky side up.
IMG_20240728_173111.jpg

Peel failing sticker from board.

Place one tiny bit of edge on and in rolling motion apply to 3M.

Now you won't have one of these. I made it special to get the curves. But cut very carefully around the radius first. Get the edge very close to the sticker edge.

Then do the same with a metal ruler for the straight edges of the sticker.

Will end up looking like this.
IMG_20240728_173938.jpg

Get it lined up perfectly and secure one end with tape both sides.
IMG_20240728_174052.jpg

Lift and carefully peel of backing and cut off.
IMG_20240728_174109.jpg

Press it down in a roll motion but don't put to much if any where you cut the backing. Or you won't be able get hold of it when you do the other end.
IMG_20240728_174144.jpg

Romove tape, lift and expose the backing at the other end. Pull the remaining off and again, roll motion stick down. And you should be done.

Any questions ask. Stupid yellow

Then after these 13 I will be making 2 special ones to close the run. These will be made of 25mm foam and will replicate every single tear, nick, dent and scratch on the original Auction board.

These will be supplied with a few extras to customise as you wish. Hole, lenticular edge band..

PM me any questions

Thanks for looking

Definitely interested in a Foam Hoverboard run here, although I’d like a clean unweathered version. It would be perfect for carrying around in costume while my wooden one stays safe on display.
