Avengers Captain America fabric?

Been looking, haven't found anything particularly suitable. At least so far.

The closest I was actually able to touch was a 100% cotton fabric with a small waffle pattern. But it was VERY thin and lightweight.

Have not been able to find Chito Sante (recommended in another thread) or the fabric used by 'The Boathouse', also mentioned in another thread.

Anyone have a thought on this?

I've found a couple of canvas materials I liked for it, but they were white. I'm not sure how well dye would take to it, the red wouldn't be a problem because it is a small amount, but the blue would be a lot of dyeing and I don't know if it would be consistent throughout.

Hi, I recommended Chitosante in a post a couple of months ago. Sorry you can't find it! I have decided against it, and have started my outfit with a simple canvas-the weave is pretty-much close, just finer than what we see in the movie-comfortable once it is washed.

Canvas doesn't have much flexibility though does it? (I'm thinking of the canvas stretched in art frames), and that doesn't seem to match the hi res pics posted here.

Tried to find one of the fabric cards from the Avengers trading card set, but haven't found one yet. 300.00 on ebay........

$300? Really? Is this the blue fabric? I only ask because I've got 3 of them. I'm prepared to scan it if that might help you?

I have close ups of the pattern in the fabric, I was more concerned with the weight, feel and stretch of the fabric.

I had that concern as well, but after washing it once, it is not as stiff. I can see that Cap's costume does have a stretch to it, but this fabric is working well for me so far. And it cost nowhere near $300:)

Sorry, the 300.00 was the price being asked for the 'special cards' or costume cards, in the Avengers trading card set, not the cost of fabric, if my post wasn't clear.

I'll take a look at canvas, I'm doing s lot of sample requesting this weekend.

Hey guys, I don't know if this helps, but I got a blue denim material from hobby lobby this past year to sew the pants, its pretty durable but the color is a little darker than you might want

also I'm making the costume of Captain America, have you already solved with the fabric? I'm using a fabric that, in Italy, is fairly easy to find, and is inexpensive; is called piquet, and there are different designs. I took a type-checked much like this ...

http://www.ebay.it/itm/STOFFA-TESSUTO-IN-PIQUET-COPERTINA-CULLA-CARROZZINO-/320466625369

http://www.camicieuomo.it/polo-polosophy-su-misura-tessuto-piquet-unito-giallo-senape_2551.html#info

as regards the elasticity of the fabric, looking at the picture closely, there are 2 types of tissue: the rough (the piquet to be understood) that is rigid, and in some places another type of tissue very simple (see below the arms and on the upper side of the chest) that is elastic, which allows you to make large movements.

I hope I was of help
