Looking good. I am writing a book now on the U.S. military 'digital' uniforms, so was also interested in this costume. I thought the digital pattern on the actual film uniforms had much larger 'pixels' and thought the closest thing (barring finding the original uniforms or cloth)is to make it from a kind of digital bedsheet set that I found in Walmart. I haven't looked in the origial prop section yet if someone has some of the original uniforms or the actual cloth that was used.

Would be good to see a pic of that Camo bed sheet..

Your right the pixels are alot bigger than any camo pattern used today, Though Cadpat is closest in colour, it lacks in size of pixel :(

We had the same issue with the Aliens camo. Kept trying to get closer and closer. We all agreed "Safariflage" was close enough and then MAA came out with custom.
Most people would not be able to tell the difference, camo is camo.

What is the mask?

Aye I remember, I had one of MAA's first sets, dam shame I sold it all :(

The mask is a 3M 6000 series full face. Ive removed the Nose/Mouth piece so you can see my face a bit better, only downside is it steams up.. but its similar in looks to another mask ive spotted in Avatar..

Also painted the Rim Black and added a "regulator".

The other thing is that the pixels are outlined in the same color as the lightest colored pixels on the uniform. Here's a rough swatch that I made up, it's close but not exact since it was created using a random digital camouflage generator as a base but it gives you and idea of what I mean by the pixels being outlined. If you look at the scene from the final battle where you see Quaritch's back as he's standing in the cockpit of the bomber you can see the macro pattern pretty clearly and you could trace over a screencap to create a swatch that would get repeated.

Here's the scene that I'm referring to for the macro pattern.

Nicely done sir!

Other scenes would be the Welcome to Pandora Briefing, you get to see the camo nice and close to the Camera when Quaritch Walks past.

Thankx for the comments folks! :D

Bit of an update as to where I am with this kit..

Im kicking off the whole design process of the armor, Im going to be copying Wainfleets style of vest.
Now for Obvious reasons (no propper pattern Fabric) its not going to be 100%.

Im still torn between what fabric to use, Cadpat or AOR2.

AOR2 pattern to my eyes, is closer to the hue of colour on AVPAT/PANPAT than Cadpat, but it comes at a cost.. Its not cheap.

So that's it so far... Il update when I can, Money isn't exactly pouring in at the mo so please be patient :) im not giving up on this!

OOORahh to that!, I just think it looks a bit better than Cadpat, aswell as giving the "ive been in the bush for a few years and seen some stuff" look :)

great job dude , missed this but followed from Vos's thread , G221 looks awesome you would never guess it was cardboard.
