Avatar RDA SecOPS Rebreather Helmet

Working on building a replica of the RDA SecOps combat helmet rebreather from Avatar. I have seen a few folks with really good looking RDA SecOps costumes including the the rebreather face piece, but none so far that built the version I saw in the film footage that included the tactical combat helmet. Hoping someone has an idea of what prop I am talking about. Has anyone seen anything good or know where I could get some good photos to work from?

I am new to this forum so I may just not be looking hard enough.

Thanks in advance.

I know what your talking about, not an easy build, I was thinking of making a clay mold to get the right shape. Good luck, I will try and find some pic to help.

This is on one of my Build lists for Avatar kit, The one in the film is a fabric base with hard plates peppered on it just like the Deck Crew helmets used on carriers.

I was going to use one as a base, then make up some new plates and repopper the cloth part, for the ear pieces i have an idea but i need to check that out first!.

A buddy, who is a member here, was one of those guys in Avatar... from memory.

Longshot question...would your buddy from the filming know where we can get a look at one of the original props or who we could call to inquire? I am fine with photos no need to actually see the original. feel free to call/text me at the following (business cell): 630-780-7070. My project is actually from a professional viewpoint and not for use as a prop or costume or for use personally.

Agree. This is a really interesting prop for me (personally and professionally) and I feel personally challenged (loving it) to find a good 360 view of it. The only visuals I can grab are from Blu-Ray odd-angle pause-stills from the film. I am not entirely sure that all of these helmets seen in the film are the same (i.e. ground forces vs. air crew). I can see that there are several models of rebreather seen in the film, but the helmets are much harder to get a view of. Props to Cameron and the prop masters of Avatar though for not just using one "cookie cutter" model of insignificant gear like the helmet and rebreather throughout the film...attention to detail was outstanding.
