For the first time since 1976, original Artoo Detoo ANH dry transfer vent details are back.
Many Artoo replicas have these vert details physically cut or machined into the aluminum parts.
The ANH aluminum units did not actually have physical cutouts. The vent details were applied after construction and likely after delivery to Elstree.

Detailed information is available at AstroDroid '76 (Peteric) Body Detail Unit 'A'

In this photo, the bodies are being fitted before painting. The body Unit 'A' detail is shown on the bottom of the unit but neither the floor or any light can be seen through the "slot" details.

The Unit 'A' details are modeled to the production blueprints.

Here you can see that vents are not cutout slots. You can't see through to the floor.

In the same image you can see the rear of the detail. It is built up from sheet metal as opposed to milled from a block.

We printed out some prototype set to be able to qualify the dry transfers when they are delivered tomorrow.

The dry transfers arrived this morning. I was going to try one on the SLA prototype but I am going to order aluminum inserts today. I'll hold off for the real inserts.
