Assassin's Creed II: Ezio's Missaglias Armor on NO budget!

Hey everyone! A few months ago, I admitted my participation in the RPF was going to die down while I starved and froze to death in college... well I had the good sense to bring along whatever materials I had snatched up in thrift stores just in case I needed to make something...

Well, I present a build of the most ghetto, ridiculous methods of making a costume. Didn't spend a single florin on everything here... there's a pic of some of the materials, but on some shots you can see pins and duct tape (didn't bring my battered sewing machine, dremel, or even a decent pair of scissors)

So, how's it looking so far? Hopefully by halloween I'll have pieced together the actual Missaglias Armor, but in the meantime all the clothwork is done! On to leather (erm, pleather/suede) and metal (plastic; yes that blue bin is providing greaves, bracers, chest plate, buckle, and hidden blade!)

I'm indeed cold, fed barely enough to keep alive, yet I still seem to possess the fire to do this in 3 days, on a whim. Wow. :lol

those must have been quite the materials and thrift stores then, cause that looks like it's coming along REAL well for something that you haven't had to pay anything else for. especially without a sewing machine!

suffice to say, i'm very impressed!

It seems the little cell phone camera didn't capture the lowest hem... but I added gold trim to the seam, because in some reference pics it looks like it's one fancy suit... regardless, I've also added the padded doublet sleeves (thank goodness, I know how to make a doublet without sewing), and the plastic cutout buckle, which are visible...

Next is what I've been doing to that poor bin; tons of plastic cut outs, taking advantage of the natural corners and curves for the chestplates and greaves especially. I didn't take a pic, but out of some scraps I'm making the 10 throwing knives, for the belt.

And finally, the pleather formed into the spaulder pad and strips, two belt pouches, the two-layered bracer, and twisted some long shoelaces for the spaulder's underarm cord.

This is either the most desperate effort, or the most epic MacGyverism...

And yeah, that's all from scraps, not a single stitch of sewing. Once I get home I'll sew it all together, but in the meantime it's been holding up really well.
